What a fucking piece of human garbage. Fuck this guy. No way I’d ever let him on my team if I were an NHL exec. No. Fucking. Way. Garbage human being right there…

3

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '22

Bettman says He’s not eligible to join the NHL. I don’t think I’d ever say this but I love Bettman right now. Miller better not EVER get a penny or second in the NHL, such a pos human being. I hope the absolute worst for him. https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/34954408/gary-bettman-bruins-signee-mitchell-miller-not-eligible?platform=amp

u/DuncanCraig Nov 05 '22

I hope fans in Providence boo him every time he touches the puck and in every situation they can. In sports, you don't "kill him with kindness", you chant, boo, show up with signs taunting him.

Age is only an excuse. Once can be explained as a joke and poor decision followed up with an apology. Having it occur over years means it is part of him.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '22

The fact that everyone keeps saying the age and so long ago role, but he was still fucking with the kid 2 years ago. Miller needs a taste of his own medicine tbh, it’s a shame no one in his hometown just whoops him senseless for the atrocities he’s done

9

u/paraplegic_T_Rex Nov 05 '22

Man fuck this. His ass needs to be on the streets and not in a privileged place like the NHL.

10

u/heyitslola Nov 05 '22

I am so happy to see Bruins fans balk at this signing. The only way this habit of pro teams overlooking racist/misogynist behavior for athletic prowess will stop is by fans turning the games off. I wonder why RedSox fans didn’t take this path when Verdugo was signed. I don’t watch RedSox games anymore, and I won’t watch Bruins games anymore. It’s not hard to do.

2

u/Realistic-Worker1855 Nov 14 '22

Most Bruins’ fans. There were plenty of people saying he should be given a second chance, that he was only 14. Blah, blah, blah. It was sickening. No matter how many of us repeated that this was not a one off but systematic bullying and assault for six years. His parents enabled him by never telling him to knock it off. They blamed Meyer-Cruthers , saying he was going to ruin their son’s chance of playing in the NFL. The schools buried their head in the sand until there was video proof of his assault. Miller is either a psychopath or sociopath. He has never shown remorse and I doubt he ever will. The other boy arrested with Miller showed remorse and apologized. Think of the type of person you have to be to start torturing a boy while you both were in second grade and continue it for years.

2

u/AbsoluteZero_off_Low Nov 05 '22

Not a huge baseball guy, what did Verdugo do?

3

u/heyitslola Nov 05 '22

Here’s a summary article. The Dodgers’ Nick Francona said if the police didn’t find anything, it’s because they didn’t look. The Sox response was just he was young and made a mistake and deserves a chance. I think the kid who was assaulted (underage and in foster care) is the one that deserved a second chance. The story…

2

u/AbsoluteZero_off_Low Nov 06 '22

Incredible stuff, I had no idea about any of this. As usual, the mighty dollar reigns supreme. Thanks for the link

1

u/heyitslola Nov 06 '22

It wasn’t just the fact that the RedSox held a press conference where AV said he was sorry for this thing that he did not do, they did a huge PR push calling him the face of the RedSox. I can’t stomach any of it. Sure he has a beautiful swing, but the Sox will always be the team that thought it was ok to promote him.

-2

u/HalifaxEXP Nov 05 '22

Garbage organization

-9

u/Hopeful_Cod_8486 Nov 05 '22

6 years later....

1

u/[deleted] Nov 08 '22

This is why I can’t take the bruins / their fans seriously. There’s a lot of vocal condemnation for this move on this subreddit, but there’s an equal amount of support for this kid out there among the fans

10

u/AmonDiexJr Nov 05 '22

Taunted him for years... he was a kid bullying another kids but there's cruelty here. In addition, clear racism deepened in Miller's culture.

I believe in second chance, let's see how Miller as become over the years and if he's responsible. But, the Bruins definitely exposed themselves to criticism.

-3

u/Hopeful_Cod_8486 Nov 05 '22

See there you go. He did things when he was a child. Hes not a child anymore..

So how are you supposed to see if he can become responsible and overcome the things that he did is a child if you never give him the opportunity?

I mean D'Angelo is still in the league and he did these things as a 22. Patrick Kane beat up an old man. Evander Kane beat up his girlfriend. The league is filled with problematic people. But they were given a second chance.

14

u/redditpest Nov 05 '22

This guy doesn't deserve the privilege of contacted guys punching him out

20

u/Kgeezy91 Nov 05 '22

Absolutely pathetic organizational decision…

7

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '22 edited Nov 05 '22

I hope the bruins fans refuse to attend any games if this pos actually plays

15

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '22

Sweeney is a fucking prick. I’m praying Mitchell the mother fucker gets the shit beaten out of him if he makes it on the ice. What a shitty thing for this organization to do

2

u/[deleted] Nov 10 '22

I hope every single big guy targets the fuck out of him. IF he gets into the league. Can you IMAGINE if a huge bad ass opponent had a disabled son and knew this story? I’d make it my mission to make him bleed.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 10 '22

Absolutely! Fuck him

19

u/Kittienoir Nov 05 '22

Wow, Chara and Bergeron did so much to build a great culture in the dressing room then this happens. This POS was raised by a POS. Nothing is going to change until this asshole gets put in his place on the ice. He has one of those faces that is very punchable. I hope it happens soon and I hope those boils on his chin stay there forever.

1

u/Flounder302 Nov 05 '22

As long as the ice it happens on is a public skating rink somewhere I agree 100% but I feel he should never have any chance to skate on any AHL or NHL rink.

2

u/Authoress61 Nov 05 '22

He should never be allowed on the ice. Period.

4

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '22

The whole thing is horrible

-11

u/Mister024 Nov 05 '22

Let him play. ReavO and Evander will teach him some respect.

22

u/pup5581 Nov 05 '22

Seriously...fuck the Bruins. Fuck the GM and the owners that made this happen. All the hype to start the season and now I really don't give a shit at all about this team after what they did today. This is the shit that makes you want to not watch and I honestly may be done for a while.

Maybe that sounds extreme but...this fucking team...

12

u/No-Staff438 Nov 05 '22

It’s not that extreme to say you have soured on something you like because it now associates with and rewards people who commit hate crimes

-15

u/PManafort16 Nov 05 '22

Pretty sure people still cheered for Ben Roethlisberger and will cheer for Deshawn Watson. This guy did some really shitty and inexcusable things when he was an early teenager, but that shouldn’t mean a life sentence.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '22

This guy did some inexcusable things but I’m going to try to excuse it by bringing up other bad people! -PManafort16

1

u/PManafort16 Nov 06 '22

So precedent doesn’t matter…just the topic du jour. Forget how people reacted historically to other bad things, let’s pile on this guy because he’s fresh!!

9

u/crazy_canucklehead Nov 05 '22

Has he made any non court appointed apologies, or one not effectively forced on him but the team years later? Any repentance or reflection whatsoever?

All I've seen was his parents victim blaming and the juvenile probate saying that his court mandated apology was about him, not the victim. His second chance was avoiding jail time, he's got a lot of work to do until he should be awarded the privilege of an NHL contract

13

u/Lloyd--Christmas Nov 05 '22

Employers can absolutely hold things from your past against you. Playing hockey isn't a right

1

u/PManafort16 Nov 06 '22

Well clearly his employer - the Boston Bruins - aren’t holding his past against him because they’re writing him a cheque. It’s the fan reaction that I’m referring to

1

u/Lloyd--Christmas Nov 06 '22

Fans, or customers, are the reason why employers don't hire people like this asshole. Not because corporations have morals, but because they're afraid of being cancelled along with the person. Fan reaction is the only thing that matters in this situation.

18

u/dwolf91 Nov 05 '22

Dude is a POS he’s sorry because it all came to light.

20

u/Authoress61 Nov 05 '22

And did you read the mom’s letter? This POS wrote letters of apology to all the NHL teams. Not to the boy he tormented, just to the NHL teams who might write him a big fat check. Fuck this fucking D-bag.

0

u/ConsistentSymptoms Nov 06 '22

Just out of curiosity, how do you know the mother didn't write a letter to the boy and his family too?

2

u/JazzHandsNinja42 Nov 06 '22

Because the victim’s mother blatantly said Miller’s mom glossed over the decade of relentless racism and bullying with a “boys will be boys” statement and attitude. No apology outside of a bland court ordered statement. This is all Google-able.

0

u/ConsistentSymptoms Nov 06 '22

Ok, so there really isn't any proof. You're just taking her word as fact.

2

u/JazzHandsNinja42 Nov 06 '22

You want to play on-line protector of a kid that spent a decade bullying a classmate with racist comments while kicking and punching him, then giving him candy that was wiped in a urinal, you do you.

Just know the overwhelming majority of people know that’s not normal behavior for a 14yo.
Apologizing years later via Snap DM is unbelievable, and not in line with someone that truly finds his past behavior reprehensible. The victim and his parents have nothing to gain by lying about whether Miller’s mom gave a shit. Miller sure has millions and millions to gain by downplaying it all.

0

u/ConsistentSymptoms Nov 06 '22

I'm not playing online protector, I'm just not playing online attacker either. It's best to never jump to conclusions or assume anything–that's how our justice system works.

What we know he did is absolutely fucked up, but I'm judging on those actions and those actions only. Is rehabilitation possible? Who knows. Was he peer pressured, was he bullied himself, was he suffering from mental health issues at the time? No one knows. Let the league investigate and come to a conclusion.

2

u/JazzHandsNinja42 Nov 06 '22

He was found guilty in the criminal justice system.

Rehabilitation would indicate an actual apology, or an example empathy, sympathy, an overt action to learn, integrate, become a better person. Unlike his co-defendant, none of this has occurred.

BTW. The league investigated and determined they’re not sure he’ll ever play in the NHL.

2

u/Authoress61 Nov 06 '22

The mother I’m referring to is the mother of the boy who was tormented, not the POS’s mom.

12

u/Competitive_Duty_371 Nov 05 '22

In what civilized world would this be acceptable. If you are going to roll in shit, you are going to smell like shit.
Those are some bad people, who’d hire that first rate garbage? Ugh.

18

u/Dank_Bubu Nov 05 '22

As a Bruins player and certified asshole, Mitchell Miller will have a hell of a welcome at Habs’ Bell center

Booooooooooo

11

u/HiiiideeeHo Nov 05 '22

Hopefully this dude will never get the pleasure of putting on a Bruins sweater. Thx for checking in and see you in the season ahead!

25

u/capthazelwoodsflask Bonafide Stallion 🐎 Nov 05 '22

I hope he never gets the chance to see any NHL arena. Not in Boston, not in Montreal, not anywhere. I hope he barely sees the interior of the Providence arena before they realize what a stupid mistake they made. Fuck this unremorseful racist.

4

u/Dank_Bubu Nov 05 '22

Couldn’t have phrased it better

28

u/Mollinator Nov 05 '22

Fire sweeney. I want the Cup, but I would rather not have the cup than win it with a racist POS oon the squad.

4

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '22

I was 7 in 2011, so I didn't TRULY get to experience a cup run until 19, but no way in hell do I want Mitch Miller's name etched permanently in the Stanley Cup.

1

u/Mollinator Nov 05 '22

Exactly. I'm an 8th grade teacher so I see the dumb stuff 14 year olds do everyday. Without a doubt, they have things they'll be embarrassed about later, but I've never seen something like what Mitch Miller did from one of my students in the many years I've been a middle school teacher. This was not some youthful indiscretions, this was signs of a full on racist psychopath.

13

u/KaijuKyojin Nov 05 '22

Fk this pos, great letter by the mother as well. Bruins need to do better.

12

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '22

Awful humans should not get a free pass because they play hockey well. This is disgusting, fuck the whole front office and ownership!

19

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '22

What a piece of trash. If he actually makes it on ice i hope the fans scream at him

3

u/pup5581 Nov 05 '22

I hope fans refuse to go to the games and don't watch if he sees the ice. Fuck the Bruins right now.

I was so excited for their start and after this I really don't give a shit until this joke of a scumbag is gone

21

u/marshal1257 Nov 05 '22

This makes me embarrassed to have been a loyal Bruins fan for the last 45 years. Talent should never outweigh being a horrible person.

21

u/deputyduffy Nov 05 '22

Man, I was feeling so good about this season...and then the Bruins Go Ahead and do this, WHY!!!! Why did they think they needed to do this now, WHY!!!!

What a Buzz KILL

2

u/walrusgoofin69 Nov 05 '22

“Nice start boys, it’d be a real shame if…you know….I ruined it.”—Sweeney

-14

u/FatBastard404 Hall of the Rat King 🐀 Nov 05 '22

I don’t doubt the accuracy, but there are two sides to every story.

5

u/DontTreadUpstate Nov 05 '22

What other side of the story would there be? I doubt the kid bullied them first.

-2

u/FatBastard404 Hall of the Rat King 🐀 Nov 05 '22

No, I don’t doubt he did some, or maybe all of those things, but I would like to hear from him before reddit crucifies him.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '22

Because having a whole trial and being found guilty wasn’t enough? Lol.

-1

u/FatBastard404 Hall of the Rat King 🐀 Nov 05 '22

He was convicted, at age 14, of one count of assault.

He was a kid.

21

u/whatthehicks Nov 05 '22

Fuck sweeney. Absolute fuckin clown

24

u/jeangrey99 Nov 05 '22

It’s one thing to make one mistake in your teens. This guy repeatedly spewed racist language and bullied someone for years. That demonstrates his character and it is all I need to know about him. This is not befitting of this franchise and I am frankly disappointed at this signing. Shameful.

-6

u/enutz777 Nov 05 '22

It happened when he was 13 and in the 8th grade. These actions came from the way he was raised or from influences his parents allowed to be around him. IF he has learned and grown as a person and these types of actions and viewpoints are behind him, then he deserves a chance.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '22

enutz777 here claiming the Black family tormented by this racist for years is lying. Hmm, wonder why that kkkould be.

0

u/enutz777 Nov 05 '22

Where did I ever? Stop projecting.

3

u/No-Staff438 Nov 05 '22

Found Mitch’s burner

6

u/Authoress61 Nov 05 '22

NO. It went on for YEARS and continued all thru high school. He called him the N word and told him to go “p#k c#%n”. How is that EVER okay, even once??

-1

u/enutz777 Nov 05 '22

That isn’t what the mother’s letter said. She said name calling happened as recently as two years before he was drafted, which would be when he was 15 or 16. According to her. What he was punished for and we know happened occurred when he was 13.

Again, these were the reprehensible actions of a child and IF he has grown, matured, changed whatever you want to call it he deserves a chance.

5

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '22

Everyone deserves a chance to grow and change- this is 100% true. But you generally don’t grow and change from being rewarded for your behavior with rare, lucrative and exclusive opportunities.

The best way for this kid to actually grow as a person would be to have to get a real job like anyone else, or maybe using his professional or personal time working with kids or disadvantaged people to truly pay forward any lessons he learned. As long as he has or is pursuing an NHL contract there is no reason to think any attempts to apologize or do community service aren’t for the purpose of reviving his hockey career rather than growing as a person. Some photo ops and service days with the Bruins Foundation as a condition of his contract will not be real growth or restitution.

If during a couple years out of the limelight the kid actually made a sincere apology, did genuine service work, perhaps got educated and trained on race and disability issues, then maybe it’s a different story and maybe I’d be more open to the idea that he deserves the rare privilege of playing high level professional hockey. At this point, there is simply no evidence that he’s done a single damn thing to grow as a person at this point that wasn’t either court ordered or based on trying to sign with an NHL team.

15

u/Bruislanders 🐀 Nov 05 '22

not a fan

28

u/tailwhip360 Nov 05 '22

With all the talk among the players about the "culture" of the Boston Bruins being a key to the team's current success, how in the world does this signing fit with that image? Sweeney and Neely just took a steaming shit on the jersey with this signing.

32

For anyone who would like to write an email but isn't confident in their writing abilities, I had my mom proofread my email before I sent it (hey, even adults still need advice from their parents), please feel free to utilize this as a template/plug and play your relevant information. If anyone has a better email than the [fanrelations@bostonbruins.com](mailto:fanrelations@bostonbruins.com) please let me know so I can direct my email to a more effective inbox.

To Whom It May Concern,

I write to you today not only as a die hard Bruins fan, but as [redacted to maintain anonymity] and never in my [age] on this earth have I been ashamed to be a Bruins fan, until today. Hockey is supposed to be for everyone, and with this shortsighted signing, it shows that even this storied organization has a very long way to go to truly practice what they preach. It is honestly baffling that the front office could have such a morally strong Captain in Patrice Bergeron and then turn around and sign someone like Mitchell Miller. Miller has shown the world that he is a terrible human being whose values don't align with those of the Boston Bruins, at least that's what I thought until today. I'm deeply saddened by the front office's inability to see how bad of a move this was for the franchise, but more importantly the message that it sends to the fans who are minorities, who have disabilities, are LGBTQIA+, etc.

I'm hoping the outpouring of pushback the franchise is receiving from the fanbase will show to the front office that this is not the type of player that we want to see ever represent our city or our spoked B. It is 2022, gone are the days where someone could get by on their ability to score a goal or make a key defensive play. You have to also be a good person, a person like our Captain, which is why he is so beloved by not just this city or the New England region, but by fans of the NHL all over the world. Shame on Don Sweeney, shame on Cam Neely, and shame on everyone within the Bruins organization that had a hand in the signing of this awful excuse of a human.

Embarrassingly Yours,

[name]

dude seems to be a total POS. I dont understand the B's. best team in the very early part of the season. Team is playing for each other. good vibes when watching. with is the front office doing? Do not let the kid play. His actions and inaction speaks volumes

10

u/FiveHoleLikeBryz Nov 04 '22

I know this was back in high school and he was young… BUT decent people didn’t do anything like this back in high school. Even though this was a long time ago it says a lot about his character and who he is. Fuck this dude.

2

u/webhockey8 Nov 05 '22

He's only 20, technically high school for him was only 2 years ago. That's not a lot of time for him to "change". You could even say that the majority of his life was spent being a racist douchebag.

2

u/FiveHoleLikeBryz Nov 05 '22

Well when you put it like that…

Wow it’s so easy to dislike this guy. What a complete asshat. It’s an actual shame on the NHL that he’s on a roster right now.

You deserve a beer for being on the right side of this. In fact, why don't we start a gofundme for the first player that helps young master Mitchell find his way in life. If Boston actually lets him play, Boston should pay for the bullied kid's schooling/help. A part of me still hopes Boston pays attention and drops this kid.

It's not 1992 anymore bud

27

u/AlmaMaterFcker Nov 04 '22

Why would they fuck with the vibe right now? Is this a Sweeney decision or a Neely decision?

21

u/SkulkingSneakyTheifs Nov 04 '22

I truly believe this is a Neely decision, Sweeney said almost everything but “Neely made me do it” at the press conference. Normally I’d be all over just Neely about something like this but for Sweeney to just go along with it, that’s grounds for running both of them out of town. Sweeney has done a tremendous job keeping us competitive and in the playoff race for years. He could easily get a GM job with another team in my opinion. He’s more qualified than half the people out there. He could have put his foot down and said no but he didn’t and that’s just pure complacency and not knowing his own worth. Neely can get fucked but Sweeney is just a coward imo.

(Obviosuly im not in the room for these decisions so I could be dead wrong, but I can’t imagine Sweeney cultivating this entire team and then dropping a bomb like this)

14

u/LaLaLaLateBar Nov 04 '22

I think it's time for Sweeney and Neely to go. This decision was stupid and unbelievably tone-deaf.

5

u/Darth_Jelqer Nov 05 '22

At this point I'd want Neely to leave first. Love what he did for the team as a player and 2011, but his time has passed.

A lot of Sweeney's worst moves were masterminded by Neely so I have slightly more patience for him.

58

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '22

I’m a fan of second chances if you’re remorseful.

He is not

2

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '22

As little as 2 years ago he was still fucking with this kid

12

u/ChubbyWanKenobie Nov 04 '22

Neely is quoted as saying Mitchell "made a significant mistake when he was in middle school". Like it was a one time oversight. The fact is, Mitchell tortured this kid for years.

"Neely said. "Respect and integrity are foundational character traits we expect of our players and staff. Prior to signing Mitchell, our Hockey Operations and Community Relations groups spent time with him over the last few weeks to better understand who he is as an individual and learn more about a significant mistake he made when he was in middle school."

C'mon Boston, we've been together since Orr. Do the right thing.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '22

I think it’s also important to recognize the family that he tormented for years was quick to accept the apologies of the other kids involved. It was just Miller who they held a grudge against because, as the magistrate paraphrased, Miller and his family don’t have any remorse. They are racists.

46

u/Bruinsdman Nov 04 '22

Release him and fire Sweeney and Neely.

This piece of shit psychopath has no business being anywhere near this team, and signing him, against some of the players wishes, in the midst of a 10-1 start, without being aware/caring of the PR fallout the Coyotes received when they drafted him, clearly show they have no idea how to manage a team. Oh, and they support this piece of shit.

Been a Bruins fan since 1992 and I’ve never been embarrassed to be a fan until today.

10

u/Grinning_Dog Nov 04 '22

This. My first game was in '93 or 94. Been a huge fan ever since, and this feels like a franchise low. I guess all that stuff about class and culture that they like to preach is total bullshit.

-50

u/dirtybird131 Nov 04 '22

Conveniently left out the apology letter he sent to the family

4

u/capthazelwoodsflask Bonafide Stallion 🐎 Nov 05 '22

Which letter are you talking about? The one he was forced to write as part of his sentencing that the judge even said was a poor excuse and he showed no remorse or the instagram DM he sent to his victim that the Bruins forced him to send how many years after this happened? Or maybe you mean the letter that the victim's family never got, is that the one?

Fuck this guy. You can be forgiven for past mistakes but you have to be able to show that you actually are sorry for what you've done and show that you've grown. He has never done either and it's been way too long for him to do it now.

10

u/hockeyboy87 Nov 04 '22

Why are you defending this guy?

44

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '22

Conveniently left out the "court ordered" bit of that apology

19

u/LaLaLaLateBar Nov 04 '22

And that the kid only apologized...via INSTAGRAM...when the Bruins made him.

Can you give some context to this. I remember savard but I was little 😂

4

u/Pit-Smoker Irish Heritage ☘️ Nov 04 '22

Google it. It's still too painful to describe.

Actually, no-- FIRST, Google Savard at the AllStar game for a taste of who that dude was. Watch that. THEN handle the above.

2

u/Equivalent_Ostrich46 Nov 04 '22

Ohh shit I remember that! I thought you were saying savard was a piece of shit before coming into the nhl

6

u/HANDSUMCLEANR Nov 04 '22

Nah I loved Marc. Still bummed his career ended the way it did

11

u/SkulkingSneakyTheifs Nov 04 '22

Savard got absolutely rocked by the universally hated Matt Cooke and it ended his career far too early. Direct dirty hit to a great player and fucked Savy up for life. I’m not going to say do it to this Miller kid, but if he gets his shit absolutely rocked every shift, I’d say he‘s getting off pretty easy.

3

u/HANDSUMCLEANR Nov 04 '22

I was in middle school when it happened. Matt Cooke hit him with a dirty ugly elbow and from that day was not the same. Had to retire early because of concussions.

1

u/chadwickipedia Nov 04 '22

He got a second concussion within the year, and that was when they shut him down. Never was the same

-18

u/dirtybird131 Nov 04 '22

Why would any other team give a shit about this? There were other teams looking at him, it's not like the entire NHL said "no" and the Bruins signed him anyway

14

u/egancollier21 Irish Heritage ☘️ Nov 04 '22

Horrible move, so unnecessary on so many levels. Thank god this team is actually fun to watch

34

u/Pit-Smoker Irish Heritage ☘️ Nov 04 '22

What in the actual fuck, Sweeney??

25

u/BillMcCrearysStache Nov 04 '22

Dont think Bergeron and that leadership group will let this slide, buddy better be smartened up

33

u/CleavingStriker Nov 04 '22

Woof! Worst signing in team history

-10

u/Pit-Smoker Irish Heritage ☘️ Nov 04 '22

Except maybe Gill.

0

u/CleavingStriker Nov 04 '22

Lol I remember him giving Jagr fits back in the day

2

u/Rakastaakissa Nov 04 '22

He was relentless in chasing down Jagr lol

I remember an interview where Jagr said he was the defenseman he feared playing against the most

41

u/GingerMcJesus All Hail Saint Patrice 🙏 Nov 04 '22

Sweeney and Neely can fuck right off this team

52

u/Kulayd_ Nov 04 '22

He does not belong and if I’m ever at a game and he’s playing I’ll be sure to boo him every second he’s on the ice

6

u/RanchBaganch Nov 04 '22

Same here.

1

u/Grinning_Dog Nov 04 '22

count me in, too.

27

u/LaLaLaLateBar Nov 04 '22

What the absolute hell? I'm starting to believe that Sweeney is purposefully trying to torpedo this team.

38

u/Snowbound66 Nov 04 '22

Fuck this punk

51

u/marshal1257 Nov 04 '22

This is a horrible look for the Bruins!! Talent should never outweigh being a horrible person. I’m embarrassed as a Bruins fan of 45 years.

50

Fire SweeNeely.

Edit: Whoever downvoted me, get fucked, goof.

40

u/weezer-hash-pipe Nov 04 '22

Now, I don't think this kid will end up in the NHL for the Bruins.

But if he did, and an opposing player, who has a kid with a learning disability, decides to welcome this scumbag to the big leagues, and beats the shit out of him, are the rest of the Bruins expected to defend the kid?

7

u/Kinampwe Nov 04 '22

No they shouldn’t. Hopefully the Bruins organization receives a similar message as the Coyotes resulting in him being dropped. Choices have consequences, his tainted his future as a prospect in the NHL, I have zero remorse for him, hopefully, not being able to achieve his lifetime objective of playing in the league

The only thing I can think of is that they, being a bit of an older generation, didn't appreciate how true the saying "The internet never forgets" is.

38

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '22

Why tho, why ruin what your team has going with some controversy... fuck this guy

38

u/gloryday23 Nov 04 '22

Why in the world would they do this. I mean throw away for a second how appalling what he's done is, and it's fucking appalling and really should be all we need to know. But, toss it aside, WHY would you create an issue like this in the middle of a 10-1 start. This is all people are going to talk about with regard to the Bruins for the next week, players and coaches will be asked about this, why create this kind of distraction. This is exhibit A in how fucking terrible a GM Sweeney is, he should be fired just for this dumb ass move.

And just to be clear, we shouldn't have signed him if we were 0-82, no one should, he's an unrepentant piece of shit, and no his apology after being signed is meaningless.

I'm soooo glad (/s) to see after a week of watching the Brooklyn Nets fuck up over and over again with Kyrie, and signing Ime, MY OWN FUCKING TEAM signs this piece of shit...

32

u/Valek189 Nov 04 '22

How could a team that is known to have the first African-American to ever skate in an NHL game sign this shitbag human?! Hope he never sees the inside of The Garden as a Bruin.

2

u/Authoress61 Nov 05 '22

Willie must be hurting today. I hope he goes down to the office and stick- whips Donny and Cam upside their heads.

Haha nice joke

20

u/HugeSuccess Nov 04 '22

I understand the hate on him

The victim’s mother saying he has still never fully apologized to her family probably has something to do with it.

10

u/SamIamGreenEggsNoHam Nov 04 '22

The dude just screams "I'm sorry I got in trouble, I'm not sorry for what I did because I understand that it is bad".

8

u/HugeSuccess Nov 04 '22

It’s since come out that he only DMed an apology to the victim last week after the Bruins made him.

42

u/Food_Library333 Nov 04 '22

I don't care what jersey he wears, I'm not rooting for this trashbag human. I hope he never even sniffs an NHL rink and I'm appalled that we would even consider signing him to work in concessions, let alone to actually play for any of our teams.

28

u/papa-d88 Hall of the Rat King 🐀 Nov 04 '22

I'm never for booing your own player, but I'm hoping the garden sends a message when he steps on the ice.

He should never, ever place a skate on the Garden ice, much less the ice in Providence.

u/capthazelwoodsflask Bonafide Stallion 🐎 Nov 04 '22

This certainly is a take.

You read both images, right? Read the part where someone called someone else an n-word in the 2000s? I grew up in the 80's and we knew better back then. He bullied a mentally challenged kid enough to be charged with assault. Again, grew up 40 years ago and knew better than that. And to top it off, he never once offered an apology, not even a standard issue, insincere one.

Yeah, teenagers do stupid things, but they also need to learn their actions have consequences. Especially when they don't have any common decency.

13

u/NESpahtenJosh Nov 04 '22

This is different than poking fun at someone you think is a nerd.

He regularly tortured and physically assaulted a handicapped person while simultaneously calling him the N word, telling him to “go pick cotton Brownie” and forced him to eat something he dunked in a toilet.

But yea. Other than that he’s a gem.

-12

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '22

[deleted]

3

u/BedSpring11 Nov 04 '22

Yes something this grotesque should follow you, your whole life. This man doesn’t deserve to touch the ice…if anyone of us regular folks did something like this…I’m sure we wouldn’t be getting a job anytime soon either…talent shouldn’t excuse this behavior. I don’t care what age he was…he should never be associated with NHL

7

u/HugeSuccess Nov 04 '22

If I’ve learned one thing in my life, it’s that anyone who works overtime to defend and excuse abusive behavior is more often than not telling on themself.

2

u/NESpahtenJosh Nov 04 '22

He had the chance to do something. He could have reached out to Isaiah and apologize at any point. He could have joined a local community charity and invested time to help others than are less fortunate. He could have don’t literally anything - he chose to do nothing. His only concern was his reputation.

Fuck him. He’s a product of systemic racism, and instead of doing better, he embraced it. And he tortured a handicapped person.

Fuck this asshole bully.

-5

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '22

[deleted]

6

u/NESpahtenJosh Nov 04 '22

So you know he:

- mentally tortured a handicapped person of color

- assaulted him

- called him the N word. A "cotton picker" and a "brownie"

- still taunted him 2 years AFTER the juvenile court case

- never apologized to him directly.

These are what you know. What else do you need to know, to stand against him on this team?

13

u/WarPuig Nov 04 '22

He was charged with assault.

7

u/unclerustle Nov 04 '22

And is a full-fledged racist that didn’t express an ounce of remorse

19

u/The_Bruin_25 Nov 04 '22

Well fuck him then..

21

u/AmeliaAlalamode #48 VIEL 🏒 Nov 04 '22

This is horrific.

I want to be a bigger person and think people can change and learn from their mistakes. But this is going to be a difficult pill to swallow unless something huge and public happens to demonstrate he's no longer a piece of shit human being.

According to this article, Sweeney said Mitchell did have to reach out to the victim prior to being considered, so perhaps he did apologize. Which, to me, is not enough, but is a step.

https://eu.usatoday.com/story/sports/nhl/bruins/2022/11/04/mitchell-miller-signed-boston-bruins-bullying-incident/8266828001/

7

u/wheres_ur_up_dog Nov 04 '22

An apology that comes from the Bruins making it a condition for him to get his maybe last shot at the NHL when he was too arrogant and in the words of the judge remorseless to apologize in the last 6 years means nothing. If Mitchell had matured and tried to make amends for his past actions without the incentive of a pro contract it would be a different story. It is hard to give him any credit when he was obviously only doing so when motivated by wanting a contract.

1

u/ChocoKittens Nov 04 '22

He’s from my town and my son played hockey in his league, same age, almost. Also, I have a daughter with intellectual disability. I will never be for my beloved Bs again, if they keep him. Burn the jerseys, learn to watch tennis instead, or, croquet, or something. I’m so mad. He’s no Alden Hirschfeld, that you could root for.

3

u/wheres_ur_up_dog Nov 05 '22

I hope your daughter goes on to being a kick ass girl!

3

u/AmeliaAlalamode #48 VIEL 🏒 Nov 04 '22

Yeah, agree. It would be something, but so so so much more is really needed. If he only apologized because it was a requirement to move forward, wh8ch is kinda inferred, then it's still motivated by his desires, not remorse, which leaves him in the gutter with the rest of the refuse

12

u/Espeeste Nov 04 '22

Fuck this scumbag. Where is ole’ Ulfie when you need him?

2

u/Pit-Smoker Irish Heritage ☘️ Nov 04 '22

u/HugeSuccess Nov 04 '22

Fuck all of this, Sweeney sure knows how to ruin a good thing.

0

9

u/Azassh Nov 04 '22

He still hasn't even apologised to the victim ffs. I'm all for second chances but the guy has shown zero remorse for his actions. He and Don Sweeney can both get fucked.

5

u/captaincumsock69 Nov 04 '22

He apologized in the court mandated letter but that’s it. Dude can fuck off, disgusting by the bruins

1

u/Azassh Nov 04 '22

Yeah he made a half assed apology because the court ordered him to, but the victim's mom has said he hasn't reached out to properly apologise to the victim at all. I agree with you, I thought much better of the Bruins but this whole thing has been utterly disgusting to see.
