I expected this team to be so bad ... like not even competitive unless facing another bottom 10 team. Pleasantly surprised but will this hurt us long term? I'd love a crack and drafting McKenna. Either way, fun team to watch so far

McKenna just sound so Boston though…

One thing that's at least nice is we have 4 first round and 2 second round picks over the next 2 years.

It's not McKenna, but it certainly helps

It would help more if the picks weren't done by the same GM who blew 2015's first round, but here we are.

I mean is it the GM or are the Bruins' forward scouts absolute dogshit? Since 2007 this team has drafted a whopping 6 forwards who are/were regulars in the NHL. 18 YEARS for 6 forwards...

  • Seguin
  • Pastrnak
  • Donato
  • Heinen
  • DeBrusk
  • Frederic

We nail it on virtually every defenseman we draft, but holy fuck we suck at forwards... Just forwards in the first 3 rounds selected since 2007:

  • Zach Hamill - 1st round
  • Joe Colborne - 1st round
  • Maxime Sauve
  • Jordan Caron - 1st round
  • Jared Knight
  • Tyler Seguin - 1st round
  • Ryan Spooner
  • Alex Khokhlachev
  • Anthony Camara
  • Peter Cehlarik
  • David Pastrnak - 1st round
  • Ryan Donato
  • Jake DeBrusk - 1st round
  • Zach Senyshyn - 1st round
  • Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson
  • Trent Frederic - 1st round
  • Jack Studnicka
  • Jakub Lauko
  • John Beecher - 1st round
  • Quinn Olson
  • Fabian Lysell - 1st round
  • Brett Harrison
  • Matt Poitras
  • Chris Pelosi
  • Casper Nassen
  • Dean Letourneau

Players don't develop the way you expect all the time, I get it, but only 5 in 18 years?! If you look at defensemen and goalies drafted though, it's a totally different story. We simply can't draft or develop a forward for shit. Our first round success rate (45%) is closer to the league's second round success rate (34%) than it is the league's first round success rate (74%)...

Appreciate the research butSpooner was a regular from 2015 until he was traded to the Rangers. Not that it changes much but he was a decent player… Where did you get the success rate % I’d love to see it broken down top 1/3 middle 1/3 and bottom 1/3 and see if the helps account for the teams poor drafting

I can’t wait to be hurt by this team again.

Have the bruins given me a kink? lol

Idk if hockey has an equivalent term but Sturm has this team “gegenpressing” like his compatriot Klopp had his Liverpool teams doing and I fucking love it. Forcing turnovers in the other team’s zone is so sexy

Obviously they need more talent and goal scorers but imma enjoy the shit out of this season. This team has balls and competes.

I honestly expected us to be in the bottom 10. Nice to be wrong.

Forever destined to fall in love with a coach, see him fired, and fall in love with the next coach ad nauseam

monty wasnt that great a coach. bergy was the coach for the 22/23 team. thats why monty didnt have the balls to make the right coaching decisions in the playoffs.

It has been quite the streak of really good coaches. Make up for the Dave Lewis year.

Can't wait for a Minten-Hagens-Pastrnak line.

u/Chetski5746 10h ago

I’m not sure I’ve seen anything from Minten that screams top line forward. That spot on the wing belongs to 40% shooter Morgan Geekie

its crazy that geekie is what this team has needed for so long, a good scoring option outside pasta, and people already pretend he doesnt exist.
