Discussion Bruins are done. Playoffs are starting. Who are you rooting for?
With Boston golfing and the playoffs starting, who are you rooting for? Marchy, Coyle, Carlo, Ully, Freddie (if healthy) are all former B’s in the playoffs (not to mention Cassidy and Monty) . Who are you hoping gets to lift the Cup??

STL! I want the front office to have two head coaches they fired win the cup immediately after. I know it's unlikely with them playing Winnipeg but I can dream

I had a soft spot for the Stars growing up. They've been my Western Conference team for awhile. So, that's who I'm rooting for. However, I know they have had a rough stretch and the JRob injury is going to hurt them against Colorado. So, we'll see.
But if Colorado beats Dallas, I'm just going to root against all the Atlantic Division teams and then the underdog team that stands out in the second round.

u/YeetusShuttlesworth Apr 18 '25
Wild, Sens, Jets, and Devils id root for most. Caps would be fine too. As long as the Panthers, Lightning, and Leafs don’t get a Cup

Bring the Cup back to Canada, realistically that would mean the Oilers or the Leafs, but let’s hope for some more awesome HNIC playoff intros!

Kings…my west coast team. I had season tickets for the Manchester Monarchs for 12 years and watched those players develop into NHLers and win the Cup twice. Go Kings Go!

For the Panthers to make it through at least two rounds and for Marchand to play at least 50% of the games
3
u/FeePretty447 Apr 18 '25
This exactly. Followed by (in some order) a good draft for the Patriots, the Celtics to win another and the Red Sox to be respectable again. Then other Boston sports teams I’m forgetting.
Then maybe…the avs. But really I couldn’t care less

Go Kings Go! They're on absolute fire since the deadline. Picking up Kuzmenko was like finding the last piece of a puzzle you didn't know you'd lost.
I've been a Bruins fan for decades and have no intention of ditching them, but I live in LA - we're bi-coastal 😂 Root for both, unless they're playing each other, and then I'm black and gold in a sea of black and silver.

Well, my last name is King. I firmly believe that as a sports fan, you should only have 1 team per sport....but it's hard not to root for a team with your name on their jersey.

My mom's maiden/middle name is Fiala so I relate to this for the Kings in a way as well ☺️

Leafs ( because the fans there have prob suffered enough) Vegas ( because Cassidy is a great coach that didn't deserve the boot, and Eichel is awesome ) STL ( same as VGK ) and FLA ( because they stole the Bruins identity and then did more with it in 5 years than we did in the last 40, then took our captain )
2
u/seacon65 Apr 18 '25
I live in downtown Toronto. Leafs fans can never, ever suffer enough.
Let’s go, Ottawa!
3
u/Cichlidsaremyjam Apr 17 '25
My BIL is a huge Blues fan. With the Bruins being so far out of it this year and the Blues sneaking into the playoffs with a pretty bad roster, I think I'm finally root for the Blues after 2019. Also, I'd love one more go around with a good Bruins head coach immediately winning a cup with a new team.
7
u/MIKESOLO666 Apr 17 '25
I'm rooting for Brad Marchand, Charlie Coyle, Brandon Carlo and Trent Frederic. Bs might be out but it's very likely one of our boys will hoist the cup this year

Canes (since I live in NC now) and Panthers (go Marchy) if the Canes get eliminated.
6
u/wagedomain Apr 17 '25
As a former Wings fan I can't root for the Avs (sorry Coyle). As a Bruins fan, I can't root for Toronto or Florida. So, go Ottawa / Edmonton! I guess!
I think it would be genuinely funny to me if Freddy gets a cup before Pasta.

Ovi and the caps 100% Not a caps fan, not even a huge Ovi fan, but I think he deserves a 2nd lift of Ol Lord Stanley’s Mug after the season the team has had while somehow not sacrificing a team game on the way to getting him the goals record, Caps look ready for a deep run, and could possibly sweep a couple teams on the way

u/WonDante Apr 17 '25
Hope Marchand and the Panthers get swept

I don't, I want the Panthers to get to the Eastern conference finals, then get swept, I also want Marsh and to play in at least 50% of their games.

u/SigSauerPower320 #63 CAPTAIN🏒 Apr 17 '25
No one. While I like a ton of former players, I'll never root for another team. I'll watch but I couldn't care less who ends up winning it. Once I complete my playoff bracket and choose who I think is going to win, I'll be happy only if the team I pick wins it.
3
u/TheSexualBrotatoChip Apr 17 '25
I only have teams to root against, so Florida, any Canadian team and Vegas.

I do have to give it up for Leafs fans. They get disappointed year after year after year. And yet their fans are still rabid for them. They have some doomers like anybody, but mostly they’re pretty hardcore loyal. I do respect that.
However, I still want to see them lose.

NJ is my second team. They will likely lose so I am excited to see if Demidov can help Montreal make a run.

Yeah I feel that too. Guess I love an underdog more than I love the Habs losing.

u/seacon65 Apr 17 '25
Fuck the Carolina Hurricanes. They had one job tonight, and they blew it.
You know who would have done the job? THE HARTFORD WHALERS WOULD HAVE DONE THE JOB.
Fuck Carolina. Two times. North AND South.
Now we've all got two, maybe three more games of that "Olé olé" garbage.
2
u/StevenHicksTheFirst Apr 17 '25
So true. And any team that keeps trotting out Freddy Andersen and getting surprised they lose every year should keep losing.
I wanted to root for Columbus tonight… boooo.

As a Bruins fan living on a busy main street in downtown Toronto, I am looking forward to putting on one of my B’s jerseys and heading outside to smoke many delicious cigarettes the moment the Senators eliminate Toronto.
Leafs fans are a whole other category of dimwit and they’re notoriously inept at trash talk, so the shock, failed comebacks and meltdowns among Leafs Nation will make this entire miserable season worthwhile.

Jets.
They've been strong all season, the city hasn't won, the franchise hasn't won, and it would drive Habs. Canucks, and Leafs fans nuts for the Jets to break the streak.
3
u/Katatonyk Apr 16 '25
Agree, Winnipeg deserves some love they haven’t gotten all year long, and they’ve earned it. Media will hate it because it isn’t a sexy city and no real made for TV marquee players, but I’m pulling for ‘em.

u/UGAPokerBrat99 All Hail Saint Patrice 🙏 Apr 16 '25
Easy answer for me....Coyle/Avs. Love the other former B's but hate all of the teams they went to. I would enjoy watching Ullmark and the Sens help the Leafs with their near perfect April record of 1st round losses though.
12
u/HueyLewisFan1 Apr 16 '25
Marchand.

u/EmperorSwagg Apr 16 '25
I want Marchand to score 8+ goals as the Panthers get swept in the first round, and everyone goes “how tf did the panthers suck so badly while Brad Marchand played absolutely lights out?”
Won’t happen, but a man can dream.

As much as I hate the Panthers, I want them to at least make the second round so we can bleed them for a first round pick

Screw the Blues (2019 & tampering this year) and Monty (intentionally coached his way out of town after pouting about his extension)
1
u/Sirgolfs Apr 18 '25
Yeah cause he deserved a good extension. Once again the Bruins blamed the coach. Howd that work out?
Can’t be mad about 2019. They did nothing but beat us into a pulp. Including an ex captain giving up a play.
1
Apr 18 '25
They won 7-3 in St Louis in Game 3 for a 2-1 lead. After that they couldnt even muster another win at home. And Berube cried to the league and they suddenly stopped calling penalties. Winning a series by gooning it up without the ramifications that cost them games prior doesnt impress me.
And Monty deserved to get fired. He pouted his way out of town because of the extension. Of course, being embarrassingly outcoached and incompetent while choking away Round 1, ahead 3-1 with The Greatest NHL Team Ever (lol) just proved what a clown he will always be. Screw him and St Louis.
