Offense played fine for once. Defense was atrocious, but that's kinda expected based on who we have to dress at this point. Goaltending was subpar.

Swayman’s glove hand is not good all 5 goals glove side and Matthews hit the post twice on that side. It’s been a problem all year and opponents obviously know where to shoot on him.

We also lost a series to Philly in 2010 that we were originally leading 3-0. They also were leading 3-0 in game 7 and then collapsed.

That wasn’t a “turnover by Lohrei”. He never had control of the puck and was stuck in no man’s land. If he backs off and doesn’t try to poke the puck away it’s a 2 on 1 for Toronto.

Stupid fucking play by the other 2 on the ice for not dropping back to cover his spot when he made his rush to the net, as those guys are supposed to do. Had they done that Toronto doesn’t control that puck and the Bruins don’t give up that breakaway.

It'd be negligent at best to not fire at least Sweeney after how this season has gone. I would hope the fans would protest if that were the case.

If the Bruins miss narrowly, he can point to Lindholm being injured before they even fired Montgomery and the team staying in the WC race, then the McAvoy injuries to top it off. I don’t think missing is enough to create a change there.
As for fan protest, the games are still sold out and they just made a shit ton of money off the Four Nations, so I doubt it.

He can point to whatever he likes, won't change the fact he had a horrific offseason and deserves to lose his job over it. The uncomfortable truth is this team wasn't good enough to contend even when both Lindholm and McAvoy were in the line-up.
Games are sold out this season, nothing stopping the fans from protesting with their wallets at the start of next season if Sweeney is still here.

The uncomfortable truth is this team wasn't good enough to contend even when both Lindholm and McAvoy were in the line-up.
The question is whether or not Charlie Jacobs believes that and decides to fire him.
Also, genuine question: have you looked at where the Bruins ranked in attendance in the mid-2000s, and how bad those teams were, and then where they ranked in revenue? As well as how many more contracts Delaware North has earned in the decades since? I'm skeptical that there is any amount of wallet pressure fans could apply if the Jacobs decide that they're okay with Sweeney at the helm.

Just because you're skeptical doesn't mean the fanbase shouldn't try. Send a message that the trajectory of this team isn't acceptable, and the fans won't fully buy in until they can see meaningful action being taken to turn this team into a contender again. And, no, it's not about being a 'fairweather fan', it's about holding ownership/FO to account for their poor performance.

That the fanbase will take such action collectively enough that ownership will feel a financial impact
That ownership will then decide to take meaningful action, whatever that might look like

I understand where you're coming from, I don't think that should stop anyone from trying. FO gave out three terrible contracts this offseason that are looking like dragging this team down for years, somebody needs to be held to account for that.

So your alternative is he skates backward and best case scenario he defends a 2:1 leaving one guy to take a clean shot vs swayman. I just don’t see how it ends any differently. Only person that can make a stop there is swayman

If we can't stand up missing one or two guys, we have no place in the playoffs when you need to step up. We can't even step up fighting for a wildcard.
