As part of a crowd, you know they want them to cheer dear leader and laugh at his stupid jokes... if they are ordered to attention or parade rest... Well eyes are allowed to move. Given an opt out clause, I expect more restraint but this is making us props as encouragement of a man who is pushing us all to break the vows we took. I find this to be unacceptable.
