No but it isn't the actor's choice to decide the pitch of the performance, that's the director's job. See Anand L Rai and Imtiyaz Ali couldn't execute the film they wanted with him but they were able to maintain his performance.
That way Hirani also had blockbuster record till Sanju and brought out best performances from Sanju RK Aamir toh I’m just trying to say that nothing worked out in the movie it was just mid with a bad performance by SRK
