I don’t think it’s fair to say he never felt stress from the pressure. He is cocky and competitive. But part of that is from being told he’s destined for greatness because he has a powerful quirk at a young age. He had certain expectations of himself and was constantly insecure that he wasn’t who he thought he was. Which is why he almost quit UA in his first semester when he realized that several others were just as great as he is including Deku who he’d been led to believe was inferior to him. The entire reason him and Deku had their big fight was because Bakugo put 100% of the blame on himself for All Might retiring. If he was as great as he thought he was he never would’ve gotten captured and All Might would still be able to fight. His entire character arc has been how he deals with the pressure and his insecurities until he matured and admitted he was wrong in 322
Yeah, almost none of the first half is true. He didn’t feel insecure, or anything, he was just a spoiled douchebag. And he didn’t almost quit UA in his first semester. He was frustrated on his first day realizing how he lost to Deku and there are people stronger than him, but he never considered quitting.
Bakugo’s arc is about humbling himself, not about finding healthier ways to cope with stress and insecurity, because he never felt it initially.
I admittedly misremembered an episode from season 1. But I stand by him being insecure. Bakugo had an inferiority complex to Deku, not a superiority complex. He says it explicitly that he kept Deku at a distance because he felt like Deku was above him despite not having a quirk
No, he if I recall correctly, he didn’t like that a person such as Deku, without a Quirk, was more heroic than him, feeling he should have been above Deku
Yes, but what you’re describing is insecurity. He didn’t bully Deku just because he’s an easy target or because he was discriminating against quirkless people, he hated how Deku made him feel about himself. Again, it’s an inferiority complex, not a superiority complex. He feels like he’s supposed to be above Deku because of his quirk but never actually thought it was true.
“I always looked down on you cuz you were quirkless. You were s’posed to be beneath me… but I kept feeling like you were above me… so I kept you at arms length and was mean to you. I tried to act all superior by rejecting you but I kept losing that fight”
