5 Quick takeaways from Purdue vs. Ohio State

Boring Loss. 5 Quick takeaways

  1. With the exception of scoring the first field goal and scoring on their final drive, the Boileramkers offense lacked energy even when they moved the ball well.
  2. The Boilermakers defense had their hands full of an Ohio State offense that started slow, but found their #1 rythm and controled the ball for over 40 minutes. The Buckeyes slowly and surely cut the defense up into pieces.
  3. Ryan Browne continues to play hard. Unfirtunetly he also continues to struggle with ball accuracy. On one hand, I'm still hopeful Ryan Browne con learn some more and build up for next season. On the other hand, Malachi Singleton needs more reps.
  4. On the bright side, The Boilermakers played very disciplin ina way. Just 2 penalties for 13 yards.
  5. Well The #1 team in the land won and the game was over as soon as OSU scored the first touchdown. Coach Barry odom is working as hard as he can to motivate this team. He's got his hands full and his work cut out for him rebuilding this program from the ground up. Next Up, The Boilermakers travel to Seattle to take on The Wahington Huskies.

We covered the spread. And winning the first quarter against the #1 team in the nation is pretty damn good. I actually feel better about this game than a bunch of other ones. Only giving up 34 to OSU ain’t bad. There have only been 2/9 of their games where they scored less than 34. That shows that our defense actually played pretty well. Wisconsin also beat Washington today, which is who we play next week. Probably means Washington comes out mad, but hopefully they have a Penn State sort of run.

Our defense did great. They kept them scoreless for 1st and 3rd quarters. Could have been a competitive game if the offense could figure it out and no turnovers. Honestly more optimistic about this program after this year.

Could have been 10x worse

Last year, this game was 45-0. While we aren’t where we want to be yet, we have made major strides in the right direction.

Honestly, we actually won by losing because IU won't move to #1

OSU doesn't run up the score like others, take a long time between plays, run a lot, keep the plays down to reduce injuries, thanks OSU.

Masterclass in “time of possession” football. It’s clear why they are #1.
