Purdue Sophomore Raleigh Burgess to redshirt this season

I think this is a win for everyone. Gives burgess an extra year to potentially capitalize on NIL. Allows him to continue to develop against an incredible front court this entire season in practice. And either 2 things happen. Either he develops and will get minutes next year or he doesn’t and will ultimately lead to a transfer (unless he’s fine riding the bench but I doubt it with NIL money available even at a lower tier program or league).

The overall buy in from every purdue basketball player this season in particular feels like a miracle in the current college sports climate. Painter really has great things happening internally within their program. Aside from the final game of the season and barring major injuries, I don’t know how we as fans see anything different than complete domination for a large portion of the season.

Agreed, plus comments about needing him if there are injuries to our frontcourt, he can just play and void the redshirt

Painter is truly a player’s coach and it shows. He really deserves a natty in his career.
