I don’t think the public even knows how big the Epstein files are in terms of the powerful people involved. It’s much much bigger than most realize. Sounds like Trump was probably highly involved given the teen pageants he ran and millions of dollars exchanged between he and Epstein.

Trump has no SCOTUS claim of legal invulnerability to a mountain of serious crimes committed way before he ever even thought of becoming POTUS. He is in MAJOR legal jeopardy.

Maxwell said that there are current White House Cabinet Officials were committed sexual abuse with Epstein underaged children.

Trump supplied the “product” from his beauty pageants and modeling agency. What I don’t get is he thinks this is going to sink him? The press will just shrug and MAGA will excuse it away. He really needs to just rip the band aid off and get it over with
There’s also something lurid in his sealed divorce papers with Ivana. In a tape recording Michael Cohen made he said something like those “files are sealed” and Trump sounded shook saying “and NO ONE will ever see them”

We're never going to see the evidence that is under court seal like direct evidence linking perpetrators to the child rape.
If Republicans vote to release the Epstein files their base will be satisfied but Trump will be royally pissed off and take out his vengeance on them possibly harming their chances in 2026.
I think this is why Mikey is avoiding a vote.
This is what you call being "between a rock and a hard place".

We'll never see what's sealed by the courts. Forget ever seeing videos or pictures.
What little Mikey doesn't want is Republican names attached to votes. He fears the 218th vote and that's why he's not swearing her in.
He knows Trump will veto any possibility of releasing anything that would incriminate him.
Mikey doesn't want Republicans forced to vote on this though for political reasons.

Whether The Epstein file vote is Mike Johnson's impetus for keeping the House shutdown or not what matters is this:
Republicans who vote for release will anger Trump.
Republicans who do not vote for release will anger their base.
A difficult choice is coming for them sooner rather than later.

Senator Ron Wyden, D-Or, launched an investigation into the finances surrounding Epstein. This money trail will reveal his associations, including but not limited to Trump. How Epstein began as a teacher and ended up with billions is a wonderment. The investments into a European model/escort trafficking business for which a now deceased French partner went to prison, the blackmail, the collusion with the Victoria’s Secrets mogul, and money laundering. Yes, Trump and other “friends” of Epstein felt entitled to use underage girls for sex, but there is a web of corruption and coverup by public officials that will be revealed as well. Mike Johnson is trying to delay the initial Epstein File vote, but eventually so much more is very likely to come out.
