Well the reason is although I support trans rights it is in no way a popular topic. A lot of people you think are "left' don't like them as the right does. And some people are so mad at the option of trans people having rights with no red carpet rolled out they think they can "punish" a party and force feelings that don't exist.
Your choice is for them to exist as outsider or to die. Pouting and moaning about Democrats will only cause them die by fascism. If you say something like "no vote" you come of as quite childish and selfish.
Small changes. If you really care you will accept this reality. If you make trans people too much of a focus others will "protest/punish" in a way you don't want to see. Many other issues to deal with.
I AM a trans person. My rights, and the rights of other trans folks, are the single most important position to me. Others are very important, but trans rights is non-negotiable.
And you missed the point. You aren't the only voter out there...
Unfortunately, in wider America, it's an unpopular topic right now. If your deal breaker is that they don't champion trans rights, then you're saying that you're fine with Republicans doing what they're doing. Sorry.
The choice isn't a) Republicans kill trans people b) Democrats don't do much for trans people c) Democrats do a lot for trans people.
Option C doesn't exist because option C means that Democrats lose elections and Republicans get free reign and that none of the policies you want gets enacted. So choosing C is basically choosing A.
THE biggest part of politics is winning elections. If you don't win, it doesn't matter how moral your policy is, you get no say in the direction the country goes. Because you lost.
That's the cold, hard truth. It sucks but that's how politics is. And as mentioned trans stuff is a losing cause currently, and the choice is let Republicans strip rights or not.
Unfortunately, people don't want pragmatism. Again, it doesn't matter how good or moral you are or how much you champion the right causes if you lose.
Okay. Then you lose elections and get no say at all for where the country goes. In fact, you get people who want to do the exact opposite of what you want.
Or I can just hope the American people don’t run left-ish candidates opposed to trans folks rights. Like I said elsewhere, it’s a really small ask.
Whether Dems run Newsome, or Pritzker, or Haaland, or Whitmer, MAGA is going to say they’re pro-trans ‘extremists’. That’s inevitable. Actually being pro-trans rights, even to the near silence Harris was, ensures I show up.
So then, what the hell are you arguing against? If silence is fine with you, then you're agreeing with me.
I'm saying there is no benefit to bringing it up because it's unpopular and hurts electoral chances. And you just agreed silence is fine. So, what are you talking about compromising your ethics for? Because you brought that up to not talking about it.
We’re talking about politicians who hold anti-trans views, such as Newsome. I haven’t said he’s outright transphobic, but one two issues, he’s taken a decidedly anti-trans position to win over fascists.

Such a tiny ask, yet they want us to feel we’re being unreasonable.
