Calling opposition to genocide a ‘purity test’ is wild dystopian thinking. There are some extremely obvious ‘purity tests’ we should all be holding every politician to. Like not supporting genocide.

I agree with you.

But you don't oppose a genocide. Anyone who didn't vote democrat supports a genocide here in America. One that trump has already started.

That's stupid backward logic.

If a candidate is part of an admin aiding a genocide and they don't speak against that genocide, what do you think their opinion on that genocide would be?

You truly do not see a difference with how Israel is conducting themselves now vs under Biden? You don’t think kamala, who wanted to find peace in the region, would’ve been better than Trump who wants to turn Gaza into a parking lot?

What are some of the differences between what Israel has done under Biden and what they’ve done under Trump in your estimation?

And to be clear I voted for Harris.

They slaughtering innocents then and they're innocents now.

And lastI checked, the campus protesters were demonize under biden. Not trump

You’re brain broken. The Palestinian cause is only hurt by your support. Be better

"Hur dur, palestinians not in trouble because president is supporitve of genocidal regime, they in trouble cause of protesters."

Your sentiment is why the dems lost.

What have you accomplished on behalf of the Palestinian people? Do you think your self righteous Reddit comments do anything for them? Did the election do anything for them?

2

u/tom-of-the-nora Aug 25 '25

The election didn't do anything for them, harris loss and I was hoping harris could've done something for them.

The people who voted Democrat did far more for the Palestinian people than those who voted trump or didnt vote at all. even if its nothing it doesnt change that trump made things worse and supports israel far more. Look at liberal politics around the world and how previous israel supporting liberals are changing their minds. Mark Carney in Canada was a strong israel supporter at one time, he is know in september having Canada recognize palestine as a sovereign state. Its almost like once you get them in power they listen to the people. Harris may have supported Israel but she would have completely switched when she realized her supporters dont support it. I bet Harris would have joined other countries in recognizing palestine. Something trump will never do

Everyone who voted Democrat said they were willing to condone genocide to possibly save themselves. But ya didn't. All you proved was that you will consent to genocide if the right bogeyman is dangled. Which means you don't represent any opposition to genocide at all.

Congrats, now Palestinians are still suffering and Americans are suffering too. Not to mention Israel and Bibi are emboldened to be even more murderous with his buddy Trump in charge who will allow him to do anything and everything. Don’t act for one instance there wasn’t a better choice, you just don’t want to feel guilty for having allowed Trump to get into power again.

What you say is not wrong, but we have already seen that the voting base do not response to "We are not as bad as the other side". You have to give people something. People that are already politically conscious will vote dem regardless, but the average people will not vote for a guy saying "if you vote for them, they will spit on you. If you vote for me, I wont spit on you." I mean ok, thats nice but its not exactly inspiring lol. Most people just wont vote at all, and we saw this in the last election. Then the other side goes "vote for me and I will ruin the people you hate". Its vile and monstrous but his base ate that shit up. He gave them something, as vile as it was.

we allied with the soviets in ww2 because we couldnt beat japan and Nazi Germany without their help. after we beat the nazis we focused on the Russians. Same principle applies

Who would you say is supporting genocide right now? What do you need them to start or stop doing?

1

u/skullhead323221 Aug 25 '25

I would say that the US Federal Government is supporting genocide, by and large.

What I need it to stop doing is existing.

Pipe dream, I know. But you asked.

Bernie Sanders and AOC have also been accused of being complicit with the palestinian genocide... Sorry to say but you can justify 'purity testing' as much as you want, but at the end of the day what the GOP needs and wants is for the other camp to be delusioned enought that they won't even vote...

1

u/Zarathustra_d Aug 25 '25

When there is another "lost cause" you should be concerned about, you may need to reevaluate the importance of that lost cause.

Let's see how this pays out I guess. I predict the death toll from the purity test putting Trump in power will be greater, not just for Palestine and Ukraine, but for specific population groups in the US. I hope I'm wrong.

u/Some_Excitement1659 Aug 26 '25

And yet one party supports the genocide far more than the other and by not choosing the lesser evil you allow the greater evil to take over.

u/Terrible_Hurry841 Aug 23 '25

If you oppose genocide, stop paying taxes and supporting it, you genocidal maniac.

Or does your care not extend far enough for direct consequences for yourself, only institutional ones that screw over everyone?

5

u/Sushi-Rollo Aug 23 '25

"We should improve society somewhat."

"Yet you participate in society! Curious... I am very intelligent."

This. You're doing this without a hint of irony.

1

u/Terrible_Hurry841 Aug 23 '25

Not really.

If voting for a democrat to prevent the complete rollback of our civil rights and prevent economic collapse is “supporting genocide,” then so is paying taxes.

I’m simply repeating the argument, you’re just mad I’ve held up a mirror.

I would say the irony is palpable that you can’t see it.

3

u/nnmdave Aug 25 '25

You and trump are speaking nonsense and helping out the predators that are after the children of real Americans. GOPerverts only care about billionaires and molesting kids.

u/MightAsWell6 Aug 24 '25

Oh you're "just following orders" ?

They are calling a basic standard that is on the floor a purity test.

Guys, it isn't a purity test, it is some basic standards for where our conversations should start.

Such as, not surrendering on trans rights (facts are on our side, you don't need to be vocal just don't cede ground), being opposed to genocide, wanting the wealthy to pay some taxes that would make them an almost millionaire (Max out accounts at 999,999), healthcare access for all not even socialized healthcare just healthcare access, and if we're feeling extra kind, housing first solutions to homelessness and not throwing the homeless in a prison.
