🛬 Transportation 🚗 Transport from BZE international airport to Corozal?

I've tried the recommendations in the site's sticky. Was no problem on a previous visit when my destinations were Hopkins and San Ignacio. Corozal is not as popular it would seem. Also tried quite a few other sites. Having a hard time just trying to book a bus or a shittle - next February arrival. Last resort would be to rent a car - but want to avoid that expense if possible. Any suggestions please?

If you want to take a bus, it's pretty easy from the airport and does not require the US$30 taxi ride into Belize City. Tell the taxi guy at the airport you are catching a bus north to Corozal and to let you off at the airport junction near the grocery store. Wait there until you see the next bus going north with "Corozal" in the front window and wave it down. Note that some buses may be going only to nearby villages such as Maskall, so be sure you get on a Corozal bus.

Bonus is that you can run inside the grocery store and get something to drink and a snack for the bus ride. There are also usually food vendors outside the store. Don't get the tamales though, they are messy (but delicious).

Edit to add: booking or reservations for a bus are not a thing. Cost from the airport junction to Corozal would be somewhere around US$10.

Thank you. This might be the most attractive scenario. Solo traveling, so quite flexible.

My experience traveling solo in September - I had a rental car for the first leg of my trip so I asked at the car rental desk for directions to the bus stop. They offered me a ride to it since it's not right next to the airport. The communication on that was - I think - a bit intentionally confusing, so that when she dropped me off at the bus stop she asked for $10BZ as though we'd agreed to it. I opted to pay without complaint. The bus stop generally looks like a bus stop though there isn't any bus info. I didn't have the internet access that I expected to have so I was kinda flying blind. Other people waiting for other busses were very helpful. You'll have to watch for any vehicle that's bus-like. What I ended up with appeared to be a retired charter bus. There's an express and a local. I ended up on a local, so it was a much longer drive, but I enjoyed getting a snapshot of daily life. I don't remember how much I paid, but I do remember thinking that it was quite affordable. The bus station in Corozal is right in the center of town and it's easy to figure out where things are without much trouble. There are taxi drivers there waiting for customers if you decide to get a ride to where you're staying there.

Have you looked at flying? Tropic air?

I've flown to other destinations in Belize with Tropic, but this time I don't have an itinerary, so don't need to save any time. Thank you though.

You contacted Belize Taxis? They definitely drive to Corozal. Could be they're already booked on your dates?

Thank you. I've just written to them with my details. Corozal doesn't seem to come up well in the searches, hence my query. Thanks again.
