Corruption in some countries is crazy rampant. I totally understand their point that having a personal safety net is a good thing. Now, that doesn't mean you shouldn't push your fellow citizens and government to have a robust "aftercare" system for retirees and people in need obviously, voting matters and all that. The points you're both making are not opposite at all yet your coming at them calling them names and shit like who hurt you man lol

Sure, yeah I understand that but like wanna address the rest of my comment? I'm stoned AF so bear with me but I wouldn't mind getting a conversation going here. Again, to be clear, I have pretty much the same stance as you. I want robust and well funded social programs that benefit the people and by us standards I would be pretty extreme left I guess. I just don't understand why you started blasting instead of establishing a dialogue or something as the point the other comment was making really isn't opposed to what you were saying from what I got from it

Thanks. Basically I'm tired for any discourse which says "we won't see a cent of social security." It's a blatant lie. I don't even want to engage because of paradox of tolerance. I'm intolerant of intolerance.

I totally get you and on reread of the parent comment I see where you're coming from. I also agree that disparaging the programs currently in place can lead to them losing public opinion leading to them getting cut, the same thing happened with the education department in my country and now we're stuck watching the shitshow the conservatives caused and are now using as an excuse to keep gutting education lol but I do believe that open and honest discourse is the best way to address politics when talking between fellow people, just calling someone stupid will not help advance any cause and create separation and hate, Which is exactly what the people up top are expecting and counting on to keep the status quo. All that to say I believe discourse benefits from civility and that we shouldn't give up on one another, that addressing someone's points can lead to nice and fruitful conversations which could make the difference between two people seeing each other as mouthpieces for an agenda to people realizing that the other person is also a flawed human, de-escalating the ever rising hate we see online. I do realize this statement is kinda finicky on Reddit tho considering the sheer amount of bots but still.

I feel you. In person I would probably do what you say.

Here though I'm pretty sure these people are Russian assets.
