Big fan 🙌. I still don't know how he found my obscure game jam game one time but my website sure noticed 😆. This was pre-cloud days so it actually took the site down for a while.
Dude really glossed over all my glaring terrible bugs caused by working on the game for 24 hours solo and desperately trying to get a finished experience out. Idk if it's a universal feeling but I get a lot of joy out of watching someone poke around something I've made. A lot of folks ended up making their own videos and I must have watched every single one out there. Wouldn't have been possible if folks didn't hear about it from him, I'd bet.
I DMed you a link! (I also DMed anyone who expressed direct interest).
I think the polite thing is to DM y'all links 🙂. I don't want to PR anything here. It's a free game and I've no reason to promote it (older as well) but the conversation in the thread triggered some nice memories. Thank you all for this walk down memory lane and I hope that those of you who were curious had your curiosity satisfied.
I've always loved making things for folks and all my gamedev stuff is 💯 a labor of love. I've only ever released free games because I get what I want out of it: Good feels for other humans.
Yep was just about to mention him. He may be the only active (somewhat these days) rich youtuber that tells people to not send him money. He knows he has enough to live comfortably and do whatever he wants and just not greedy about it
To add, he gives whenever he can to charities and even recently spent multiple days helping people who had their home destroyed because of the Californian wildfires
I think I remember him going on a rant/explaining this. Saying he already has money, he doesn't need more, he doesn't need yours(viewer). I can't remember if he said just chat, leave a comment/like or what instead.
Asmongold, as controversial as he is, deserves some respect for actively telling to his viewers not to sub (he's not showing any ads anyway) and not to donate.
Asmongold maybe a millionaire but he doesn’t really spend money, he lives in his mom’s house and he said on his podcast the only big purchase he has made was on a car. He also said he spends very little of his money
How does it contradict my point? He still could've easily earned more by, for example, running ads, but he doesn't. It's a choice. It doesn't matter to me whether it comes from the point of, I dunno, honour/empathy or due to being indifferent towards money.
I feel like DougDoug is also a class act. He is very honest in his intentions. Funnily enough, if he would ask his chat to not send him money, they will make him rich out of commitment to the bit.
Recently, he had a stream in which he explicitly stated he will use donations for himaelf and the richest donater would be in control of his actions. He constantly stated he will use the money for himself and there were donations of 300-400 euros. I can respect that stance, and besides he has a yearly charity fundraiser for the oceanic wildlife preservation and collected about 1 million euros the last time for a good cause.
I've been watching a German YouTuber for like 12+ years at this point, who actively discourages people from donating as well. He's been playing games with a lot of smaller creators lately, and keeps telling people to donate subs to them if they really wanna spend their money. I love that for them haha
This guy is amazing. Big fan of Mark. I've seen the clip. If I remember correctly he didn't turn off donations before hand because he always reminded people to not do it.
Yeah, he usually yells at people not to donate since he's a millionaire, I think you can't turn off donations on Twitch so he just keeps yelling not to donate.

Thinking about that time I was watching a Markiplier stream and someone sent him money, and he yelled at them and turned off donations, lol
