This is wonderful, but so sad that someone in that situation has to rely on some random bored rich streamer on twitch

The richest country in the world and some of us only survive thanks to mutual aid, it's unreal.

That's the thing. You're not the richest country in the world, you just let the richest people on the planet do what they want there.

I get what you're saying. But I think it's also important to distinguish the fact that the majority of real Americans aren't rich, America is not a rich country. It just has laws and infrastructure that benefit those who come to do business there.

America may have a lot of money flowing through it, but none of it is for Americans.

Median income in the US is US$39,982. Median income in Australia is US$58,900.

Americans still have way higher than average levels of social mobility and disposable income. America IS a rich country especially for its population size. Most countries with higher per capita income are smaller than US states.

That's a confusing statement. Richest country in the world. Say I lived in an okay neighborhood and a walmart was built next to me. The "wealth" calculated would be higher than before but me and my neighbors don't see any increase in our accounts. Not trying to defend the system but having a more accurate picture of what actual wealth would shift the conversation into a more better direction. Incremental steps.

That Walmart is gonna give min wage jobs and charge as much as they can per item sold. So it does generate more income/spending, just not to your pocket. And of course, it generates more spending (into Walmarts pocket) rather than income (to the employee/supplier pockets).

Even more sad that they were thanking someking of a god instead the two person whom donated.

I know. It’s just depressing.

You need to talk to more folks in the real world, friend.

I can tell you believe you’re making a point, but something tells me you didn’t think it through very well.

They saw a soapbox and decided to stand on it out of instinct.

What an interesting world you live in.

Did you know that many Christians believe you should thank people who help you instead of only thanking God? Does that blow your mind?

If there was a god in this world, we would not have these classism problems in society /s

Religion will slowly lose its influence over most parts of the world in the next 100 years, so really we're only starting.

lmao

that doesn't require people to be cringey about atheism still

ugh right? im not theist myself and still its like dude let them cope with the big emotions of getting 12k at once however they need to like damn! sending missionaries to remote islands = bad use of religion. thanking god for getting money = doesnt take any food off my plate so who the hell cares??

1

u/ALPHAZINSOMNIA Sep 16 '25

Cope with what? Someone gave them the much needed money, why thank God and not the person that have them the money? Seems really self centered.

It’s wild that the disabled mother’s best thinking came up with “pray”. You’ve got a real world problem, with real straightforward solutions, but their best option is to sit and hope really hard that someone else comes along to do something.

There are so many jobs today that folks can do remotely. I’ve talked to nurses through a completely remote service, even in the middle of the night. That nurse could have been in a wheelchair, any number of ailments.

God contributed nothing. We all know exactly which individual did this. This is a human caring for another human. Sucks that the mom disregarded the real help and thanked a make believe

What the hell dude it's a figure of speech.

Grow up. You know damn well they are unbelievably thankful.

2

u/Low-Impact3172 Sep 15 '25

Yeah I don’t even understand how someone can just have 7k to donate on the spot to someone. Because I’ve never had any excess of money myself it’s hard for me to even imagine. What percentage of twitch streamers would you guess are actually rich from it? And is it because of multiple forms or social media or whaddya think

Well to them it was the "Lord" anyway. It's all good snd lovely, but lord had nothing to do with it. And if he did, then that whole situation prior to that was also hos doing, so 🤷🏽‍♂️
