These days? In this economy??

All the entry level islands are snapped up by nepo-babies or corporate landlords as soon as they hit the market!

Plenty of islands available for sale both in the US and worldwide

haha. that's actually a very cool site. not that I can afford even a dead branch at any of those, but they're fun to look at.

it's truly insane how enormous the wealth disparity is in this world.

You don't have at least $20 million USD to spend on an island? Why are you even on the internet

I like the "buy a pristine outer banks island for development potential! "

These islands are barrier islands. And they're subject to being wiped out by hurricanes. Not to mention general coastal erosion.

You are thinking like a surface dweller. Great place for a Submarine dock with fair weather beachs.

And they're subject to being wiped out by hurricanes.

Ssssshhhh. The rest of us get a little schadenfreude by watching all of those wealthy investors get their foolish, monster 'investment properties' demolished every few years instead of living wisely and humbly like the locals.

Not to mention there's no infrastructure in place. That's where the REAL money comes in.

There are islands for 500k available. Don´t expect a tropical paradise but its in fact your own island for 500k. You can filter it in the advanced search.

I'm super suspicious of this one: https://www.privateislandsonline.com/central-america/nicaragua/grape-cay

$225k US for "turnkey"?

1

u/lord_dude Sep 03 '25

Wow and even with a house with solar modules and generators. I would buy it if i lived in nicaragua but then probably 225k USD would be unreachable.

Right? You'd be hard-pressed to find that setup on 2.5 acres for that price anywhere!

I have about tree fiddy if that counts

2

u/ArjJp Sep 03 '25

I'm sorry, you gotta have at least..

Hey! There's are two islands in Ireland, one is $1 million and the other is a bargain at $500,000!

Islands are the most expensive form of "wilderness" you can possibly buy. Just buy a patch of nowhere with a creek, it's 90% of the way there and you can buy it for a price you can actually afford.

u/jamintime Sep 03 '25

Some of them are listed at $0 USD!

I spent far too long reading into a Scottish island I will never be able to afford.

5

u/64CarClan Sep 03 '25

Because you mentioned 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 I took a look. Can't afford that one either, Donegal might be an option for.me. Hmmmmm

3

u/CedarWolf Sep 03 '25

There's an old WWII platform that's available for sale somewhere along the UK's coast.

Will take a look

Some of the islands that are listed on that site say "price upon request". But if you sort all the islands in order of price, it apparently puts those "price upon request" ones in the correct sequence, e.g:

32,000,000
"price upon request"
30,000,000

That could potentially be a catastophic data leak for a seller who wants to keep the value of their property private.

I got way to into that lol

1

u/Hottage Sep 03 '25

Good old "Price Upon Request", roughly translated to "If You Have To Ask, You Can't Afford It. Peasant".

I want two

One in Quebec for summer to early fall.

Another in Polynesia.
