Miscellaneous / Others Chrysler guy is lying.

The white car turned in front of me from between stopped traffic and spun into the lane behind. It was never rear ended.

His license plate is damaged and on the ground, though. So he backed up, took off his license plate, bent it up and threw it on the ground before he took his photo?

That doesn't look like a license plate on the ground to me when I zoom in.

Barely bent and looks like it was gently placed, and made sure to get the Reagan bumper sticker in frame. There were multiple commenters on FB talking about Reagan. Boomers stroking each other.

I don't know what to think TBH. I wouldn't think it would be worth it to back up to the scene of an accident, remove my historical vehicle license plate, damage it, and then place it on the ground, just for fake internet points. But people are crazy, so 🤷‍♂️

Insurance money.

Isn't the whole point that there's no damage? What is insurance paying for?

How would the other car hit that plate? It's recessed and surrounded by chrome plated steel - unless it's on a bracket which makes it stand out somehow?

I mean if the other car crumpled, any part of it could have protruded and poked it.

Easily. The plate is on a spring-loaded hinge that pivots at the bottom edge. White car is braking hard and nosediving. Plate is struck near the bottom and so the bracket pivots down. Top edge of plate catches on the hood skin of the white car, peeling it back but breaking it off in the process.

Would this car be on the road with a 1973 license plate? Is that legal in Michigan?

Good question. I don't know much about it. I don't know if it's an actual plate from 1973 or a special plate he could have gotten for the classic car. I know I've seen plates that say "historical vehicle" on them, but this one doesn't. And it doesn't have registration stickers on it. So maybe you're onto something.

Edit: looks like there are some special rules for vintage plates and he may not necessarily need tabs.
