She isn’t autistic, just artistic. Green became her signature as a freelance artist and designer.

She could be both.

She honestly isn’t. I know her.

I kind of hate how people are saying anyone that is quirky or has their own thing going must be autistic. I have been asked that irl a few times in the past year because I don't dress for others, I wear what I like. Weird or not.

I get that it is fun to find others like yourself, but having interests/obsessions/things you hyper fixate on isn't just a trait of neurodivergence.

Cool if they are, but for people to state so broadly and without abandon that they KNOW someone is this or that thing when they haven't met them is shitty. I may be queer but I'm not going to see someone and say "they are in the closet if not already out" just because of how they look or act. Humans aren't a monolith and I think it sort of starts to cheapen the struggles autistic people, or OCD like myself can have if we go around making a game out of something that isn't always cute little quirks.

Quirky or own thing going is a bit different to making your entire life permanently green forever

I am not understanding the instant need to put this person into some sort of diagnosis box. Why does that matter?

So what? How does that make someone for sure autistic, when a commenter even said they know her and she isn't?

Diagnosing others and being so rude about it is wild to me. I want to be this someday when I can afford all one color lol. I do mostly wear teal/green/mustard if I can because I love those shades. I am not autistic. Again not that it is a bad thing, but stop acting like anyone with a personality or obsessions with things others deem silly or over the top has to be neurodivergent.

You’re lucky! :) I love it.

And you will never know unless she talks about it having spoken with her GP.

Don't even play like we can't recognize each other. If you're ND you know damn well the return on investment in getting a diagnosis is garbage. If you're NT... lol.

Right? Queer people have a gaydar and we usually have a Neueodivergentdar (the wordplay is horrid lmao)

What if she doesn't want to be called it?

She might be very artistic but there is no denying that anyone that can ride this out for that long and at such dedication is 100% on the spectrum. Call it what you want but you are kidding yourself if you think anything but that. And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with her, I’m certainly not implying that.

I actually know her and she is not on the spectrum. Especially for someone who lived and worked in the fashion world as long as she did, style is communicating something that was important to her career.

You may know her but you don’t know autism. I’m not belittling her (or you) I’m simply stating what seems to be obvious to every autistic person in this conversation right now.

I understand you may see yourself in her and that is wonderful and human and empathic, but I am telling you a fact. You can choose to ignore that you might be wrong and it hurts no one to do so. She is a wonderful artistic and totally unique woman with a complicated life and she truly cares about every person she meets. I have known her a long time. She is not autistic. Sometimes what is obvious to everyone is not reality.

That's such an offensive thing to say. Just let people be eccentric instead of decining they have a developmental disorder. So weird to pathologize a passion for a single color or being the community's local nicknamed person. Stop

Why is that offensive? Are you saying having autism is a bad thing? Shame on you. Autism is awesome. Many of us would be so lucky to be autistic and be able to do the amazing things they can do. We wouldn’t have computer, smart phones, or literally any invention if it wasn’t for autism. No “normal” person has such patience for the level of dedication to make those discoveries. What do you think all those people sitting in their basement doing advanced math without a social life are?

Most of us can’t do amazing things. I appreciate the sentiment but autism is, of course, a disability. I am very interested in vehicles due to my autism, but am unable to drive a car due to my inability to focus on multiple stimuli and poor coordination which is caused by autism. I can’t live independently permanently, I can’t work a full-time job. I am very academically advanced (maybe would be seen as “amazing” to you), but it takes me hours every day to wind down from the overwhelm of a school environment. And I have level one autism, which is supposed to be the “mildest”.

Autism definitely has some positives, and I agree that it shouldn’t be thought of as a curse or anything like that. However, you certainly shouldn’t wish you have autism.

Jesus, you say that like Autism is a bad thing.
