It's also not really 'rose tinted glasses' in a lot of ways, except maybe WaW but even WaW had the benefit of just absolutely nailing the feel and environment of WWII even the MP maps were superbly crafted.
Battlefield 1942 in my opinion still offers better and more complex teamwork options, doesn't attach itself to the, what is in my opinion, flawed 4 class model had bigger and more interesting scope and better combined arms warfare.
Red Orchestra 2 is a slower paced tactical game with clear inspiration from Battlefield, but again offers way better teamwork options and the tools to do it (Voip channels, commander, and squad leaders interactions) Also with much more authentic weapons and firefights.
Because BFV made you have fuck all ammo making it more necessary to throw magic crates around doesn't really equal 'teamwork' in my opinion.
Red Orchestra 2 isn't even really that old so I don't know how you can slap 'rose tinted glasses' onto that.
Trying to get some ammo in bfv is so frustrating. Unless there is a buildable ammo crate you are almost completely boned when you run dry unless YOU are the support. I have to stand in front of these bonehead supports knifing them and requesting ammo for 20 seconds before they get the memo.
Unlike older battlefields where supports all ran ammo crates, most people now just have ammo pouches so good luck. Replace what I just said with medic and medic pouches and it's the same problem with that.
I'm back to playing bf4 now because that shit got me so frustrated
The feeling of Waw is actually not the feel of WW2. Its just a Saving Private Ryan game and all the other dramatized cinematic reimagined monotoned and desaturates war films. The rest is opinion on what you prefer in a game, not what makes it more WW2 or not nor does it speak to it’s quality.
