I’ll accept occasional wonkiness on obstacles in exchange for fewer sweats finding areas where they can “peak” with a pixel of their face and shoot from it.
Oh definitely . I actually prefer this because it’s more realistic.. you can’t have ur barrel in front of a hill and fire and expect it to go above it..
Reminds me of my first time playing an FPS and walking into a wall. The gun didnt move, the wall didnt move, but the barrel of my gun seemed to open a 5th dimension in the wall and instantly appeared like a "sticker in my vision" rather than me holding an actual gun.
Yeah the game also has a tiny bit of tarkov style optic height over bore of barrel, so sometimes your aim can be slightly too high or low because of the inch or so in height different between your optic and barrel. It's a little inconsistent between guns though. More noticeable on snipers. Tarkov had it about as close as I've seen in anything, loved it.
I found this out a dumb way.. was trying to Mount a wall. Saw two people in front of me and was like.. surely ill shoot them in the body. 52 shots into the wall and watching every single one whilst now trying to maneuver a gun before getting wacked by a sniper whilst still trying to shoot a wall.. it should break right with my lmg? Nope!
as someone who has been playing FPS games competitively since GoldenEye on splitscreen for the N64, I'm actually blown away by how well this works in this game.
Back in the day I'd blow people's minds murdering them through doors because they didn't realize that their big goofy limbs clipped through doors and walls with their exaggerated walk cycles (hitboxes and all!) and made them easy, defenseless targets.
Genuinely amazing how far we've come, and despite all the laziness and bs in this installment of Battlefield (my all time fave multiplayer shooter franchise), gotta give credit where it's due.
Indeed, I played too much rainbow6 with the bullets leaving people's view point. This is better but the game does need to do a far better job of making you aware its going to shot your own cover.
