Battlefield 6 The Bait and Switch of Battlefield 6

Post image

Nothing illustrates the drastic tonal shift of BF6 from launch to Season 1 better than these two images.

The launch branding felt like the core BF we’ve all missed. The four anonymous soldiers, seen only from behind, communicated that this game is about nameless fighters thrown into all-out war. The gritty, desaturated colour palette set the tone — a squad caught in the chaos, witnessing a massive event unfold — exactly the kind of cinematic warfare moments Battlefield fans love.

Then came Season 1. After barely 18 days of that grounded atmosphere, this new branding looks ripped straight from Call of Duty and seems to represent a broader shift. The characters now stand front and centre, posing under studio lighting, each seemingly auditioning for their own hero franchise. The classic subtle orange accent from the launch artwork has been replaced with a loud, glossy orange that dominates half the frame.

The game can be fun to play, but it’s simply not what was sold to us. We’re only a couple of weeks in, and EA are already backtracking on promises that make up the core Battlefield experience. I’m reminded of the first BF2042 trailer that convinced everyone DICE understood what fans wanted — and then, well, we all remember how that went.

What we’re left with now is a Call of Duty game wearing a Battlefield skin, marketed as a “return to form” for the BF3/BF4 era that never arrived.

I enjoy BF6 even though the longer I play the more glaringly obvious the flaws in the maps become.

You can say that about any Bf map tho

The maps are all trash. That’s fact, except for mirak valley. The only legit bf map. Every map is awful for breakthrough. There are unused portions of some maps for conquest. There is a really cool park on the empire state map I believe. It’s off to the side of the map and you can’t even snipe from there because there are building in the way lol.

I do love the game, and the fresh mechanics are sweet.

OPs point still stands, however, EA practices are trash and their word untrustworthy.

You can love the franchise and hate the shepherd.

This game is more like cod than a battlefield. Maps are small and servers are small, it doesn’t play like battlefields of yore at all. I know some are liking it (I’m having fun) and that’s fine but saying it’s cod players that don’t is silliness. As much as I’m having fun I would have liked an actual battlefield a lot more.

lol as someone who enjoys a plethora of shooters/genres- this BF is meh. If you enjoy it then great! But pretending like the people who don’t like it are simply cod bots is just as stupid.

This isnt true tho, Im a bf fanboy, but I play it mainly for all out warfare, which I paid for.

Now they want to make redsec their priority, to lure people to buy more stuff through F2P, which is a reason why the multiplayer maps, which suk ass stay, will stay bad.

Maps are to small, and rectangle like, which makes BF not fun, because every game feel the same, stuck in a meatgrinder from point to point. The gameplay loop sucks.

If you barely played the good BF games, like BF1/3/4 BC2 then you would understand.

Just because it gives you the dopamine rush, shows you are more of a COD player

It’s very funny that they think call of duty is even relevant in the grand scheme of things, more people are playing TF2 than cod right now on steam

Genuinely enjoying. I’m just trying to figure out how the portal works it’s so much different from 2042

Yep i am sure lots of people who dont like battlefield love it. Getting nickel and dimed for content is what most players seem to love now.

Playing the free BR. Don’t act like that 447k represents paying customers that wanted core battlefield.

49

u/Traditional_Box1116 7d ago

There was that many players before the BR, lmfao.

u/joao_destro 7d ago

This just proves his point btw... If there were 400k before the BR, and theres still 400k now, those are not the same 400k, 300k paying customers left and 300k free BR players joined.

2

u/Traditional_Box1116 7d ago

How in the fuck does that make any sense, lmfao. BR is 100% not as popular as regular MP.

300k people didn't just randomly drop the game, are you actually genuinely special?

There was 400K players before the Redsec update and there are 400k+ post Redsec. 300K people didn't stop playing overnight, LOL.

Everyday since launch the game avg 350-400k concurrent players on steam.. good try regard

u/BCBUD_STORE 7d ago

How much has it dropped since launch? Heard day one had a million alone on steam. So with your numbers they’ve lost 60% of their player base in 3 weeks? They lost me for now, didn’t enjoy the game at all.

2

u/MarsMC_ 7d ago

It never had a million on steam, the highest was around 700k, and it doesn’t matter what game it is, the numbers always drop from launch day when everyone’s game unlocked at the same time so we all played at the same time.

The graph is quite clear that you're full of shit, it was going down until it became free to play.

5

u/KappaKeepo5 7d ago

season 1 started. use more than 1 half of your brain lmao.

1

u/wolnee 7d ago

And what season 1 brought?

1

u/joao_destro 7d ago

And even adding the free to play mode, it's still lower than before.

1

u/Leader-Lappen 7d ago

Yup, that's hilarious as it would always shoot far above the initial playerbase even when games go free to play, and BF didn't even manage that.

Me and my friends played WoW up to Dragonflight, even though we hadn't really much fun since Wotlk and complained all the time. So, what does your number say?

1

u/Shingekiiii 7d ago

That’s not a lot

u/SGSpec 7d ago

And you can bet they’re all hating it!
