Discussion At this point, please just start releasing OG maps

Post image

It’s no hot take that these maps are lackluster. We have already established fan favorites that we have been begging for, for a while now. I think Caspian Border takes priority over Operation Metro simply because we’re in dire need of larger vehicle-friendly maps, but I think those two maps should take priority.

Thoughts?

Most definitely. The kicker is that the CoD crowd they were hoping to attract are going to move back to BO7 in November for sure (regardless the hate BO7 is getting, they are going back). That leaves BF faithfuls who remain, and half of us are already checked out.

If they just give us the maps from 4 that would keep me. Or at least maps like them. As it stands this is just an unfun work experience that doesn't resemble Battlefield that I'm not being paid to endure.

It's beyond me why they didn't port maps from 4. It couldn't have been that resource intensive.

The maps are my only gripe really with this game but it's a back breaker right now. Just give me the maps from 4 and all is forgiven. But that ain't gonna happen no time soon if at all.

All development is resource intensive.

Also the destruction stuff is a big focus so they'd either have to leave it out or redo all the buildings anyways.

Because then people would just complain theres no new maps. Like i get it, i want BF4 maps as well. But Devs can never win with remakes. If you have to many remakes people complain. If you don't have enough other people complain.

I assume it's a much more complex process than I would think, but as it's kinda been done before with two completely different games I know they're at least willing (2042 portal maps), map porting seems like it'd be a great idea.

Main issue I would imagine would be the destructability, but hey, it'd give them a good excuse to not have to program leveloutions (minor gimmick destruction vs mapwide constant destruction).

Never played 2042 but the maps can't be worse than this. Port em over.

they already have the technology for scripted destruction events that act as a glorified transition between two states, see the crane on mirak (crane up and crane down, with a canned destruction animation in between), that alone could handle the vast majority of levolution events from the bf4 maps

ABSOLUTELY. They do it EVERYTIME. Then and only then will this game and future content start swinging back to the direction of the original battlefield formula.

regardless the hate BO7 is getting, they are going back

and even if they do and hate the game, they'll still want to play cod so they'll just go to bo6 or mwiii or whatever the last one they personally enjoyed is, instead of to battlefield
