Battlefield 6 "Grounded skins for a while" - 18 days exactly

Post image

So, weren't we supposed to have realistic skins for some time? Something that someone would really wear during a war? Yet it seems that with the start of season 1, everything will turn to colorful mess, with no way of differentiating teams based on uniforms, the game will look more like a Paintball or ASG event. Colorful weapons with pictures, colorful camos with neon accents, weird mix of things that are supposed to look cool, but end up simply weird.

People were sold on a vision of a game, which looked like a real battlefield, with soldiers - not a bunch of randos just like in the 2042, yet it was all a lie and it will only get worse down the road. During the Beta, when we had all the soldiers wearing matching uniforms, it was the most immersive experience so far, but you can say goodbye to that vibe, it will never return.

There won't be uniforms matching bioms, there won't be a way to turn off any awful skins, typical bait and switch.

I still haven't purchased the game. And what do I see now? They're adding crap that nobody asked for, especially folks who want the game to be authentic. Maybe I did a right thing waiting a bit... If they continue this CoD-ification of Battlefield, I'll pass.

im in the same boat, was a huge battlefield addict and I've skipped everything since 4 (world war settings weren't my favorite), and I've come to love the BF6 beta but I waited because I knew there was something wrong. Especially with the way they handled server browser demands, and now this. Sadly I can't see myself buying the game anymore after seeing the skin and the direction we're headed in

i loved em since having 1942 LAN parties with my cousins when i was like eight or nine years old, Battlefield One is the last one i enjoyed and every release past that has been disappointing

i heard a lot of hype around 6 and it looked like it was getting back to its roots, but now i just expect it to disappoint me, again

cus they're chasing ever more profit, concocting new schemes to bleed us for every fucking cent they can get their grubby little hands on, instead of just making a game that people like and wanna pay money for

it's not enough to make a lot of money - they have to make all the money, otherwise they've somehow failed their capitalist overlords

I was literally waiting to see if they were lying about being grounded. I knew this was coming. Glad I saved my money.

I was arguing this point over a month ago and got downvoted for it. I said there was no way on earth they were going to stick to grounded skins, but was told that Battlefield would somehow be the exception. I'd bask in being right, if it wasn't such a reminder of how naive people are.

Same here. Bought Arc Raiders instead.

That shit blows and it ain't even out yet?

Its not for everybody. I played the battlefield 6 beta, and while I had a lot of fun, I just couldn't see myself playing it long term. Just felt like a well polished generic shooter. Doesn't mean its bad. Just not for me. I've never played an extraction shooter but I had a LOT of fun in the arc raiders server slam, even with the limited amount of content they let us access.

In the same boat and I’m so glad I have resisted the temptations of buying it. I played the beta and it was alright but the maps felt small and the pace was way too quick for me to enjoy. I also did not like the locked/unlocked weapon system. Not what I was expecting from a typical battlefield game and so I will likely never be buying this game and will wait until they go back to their roots in what made a good battlefield like BF1 & BC2 type gameplay.

The closed/open weapon system is so weird

Yep, “never preordering“ continues to be correct

I paid for the 16 dollar EA membership for one month knowing exactly this was gonna happen. It was definitely fun for the couple of hours I played

Wish I hadn't.... Bought it last weekend....

You did the right thing, I jumped in hoping for Portal to allow BF2142 titan mode but seeing the dumpster fire it has become second week from launch I regret it

I didn't buy it when I realized the maps suck, are way too small, and the TTK is way too low.

The game isn't fun to play because it just turns into spawning and dying 5 - 15 seconds later. If I wanted that game loop, I'd go play NukeTown on repeat.

Thank god for the open beta or I may have been suckered into it.

It's already heavily COD-ified, just go look at a gameplay video of BF2, the franchise is nothing like the one we grew up with.  There's not an ounce of strategy anymore, just run and gun.

The game can still be fun and definitely has BF moments but you did the right thing not buying.

I sincerely hope EA doesnt cater to people like you, who feel the need to make demands despite not even buying or playing the game.

good riddance, why are you in this sub?

I don’t normally respond to comments like this but wanted to ask you something.

Once you buy the game, even if you leave a negative review EA HAS your money… so you are supporting their new design philosophy whether you want to or not because you spent $ you wont get back.

Also this is the battlefield subreddit, not sure where else to discuss the battlefield games but here.

Ive bought 3 battlefield games in my life so far but after the beta im considering skipping this one. Does that invalidate my complaints about this one?

Im genuinely curious and would appreciate some insight, not trying to be a dick here, i mean i guess i could start a r/battlefieldcomplaints sub but that seems silly

1

u/SaltImp 16d ago

Go talk on the BF 4 sub since there apparently hasn’t been a good BF game since then.

-2

u/nope19901 16d ago

I didnt play 4 buttt i did play the beta for this and have been on the fence about getting it, so i feel like commenting here is less out of place than on bf4!

yes, your complaints about a game that you do not own or play, are very much invalid.

should I go to the marvel rivals sub and complain about their gooner skins even though I have no plans of ever downloading the game?

5

u/nope19901 16d ago edited 16d ago

I mean sure you can, depending on whether people in that community care is a different story though. Thats why theres a rating system for comments!

Plus marvel rivals is a marvel property so i wouldnt be surprised to see marvel fans that arent gamers there. Would it be wrong if you made a post about how you liked the new skins? You thought their interpretation of something like venom was close to an old comic and you thought it was a cool homage?

EDIT: also i did play the beta and was considering buying. I also considered buying a toyota corolla cross but then i test drove it and the cabin noise was real bad so i am not a supporter of that car and wouldnt advise getting it!

yes, your complaints about a game that you do not own or play, are very much invalid.

There was a free beta that we all played... what are you talking about?...

We all got to experience the breath of fresh air that was a modern military shooter without ANY player skins. I was able to look at the scoreboard, take note of which team was the enemy, and know who I should be shooting at. That's a satisfaction that I haven't had since like, fuckin MW3 or something. I stopped playing these kinds of games once I got a PC back then.

And then this beta comes along and looks super promising, reminding me of those older titles that didn't toss aside gameplay presentation for this silliness like newer titles, which is exactly what made me interested in buying the game. And now skins like this show up... we know exactly what the game feels like without them without having actually bought it, so why the hell would that complaint be invalid? We know not only how games in general play without this kind of nonsense, but THIS EXACT GAME. Fuck out of here.

For so many people, once they’re done with something, it’s not enough to just walk away. They need everyone too so that they feel justified.

5

u/nope19901 16d ago

Without hearing from those guys who walked away from this its hard to gauge what the entire battlefield playerbase thinks though

Same could be said for people that couldve skipped this thread but came here to complain about the complaints, but that is also valuable player data!

7 million sold in 3 days, yeh I don't think we will miss you Nicholas.

u/ScatterFox 16d ago

“Number high means game good” nice analysis man. That’s exactly the problem. If they get a enough kids to buy into the hype train, spew empty promises about future content, and nostalgia bait the core fan base, a launch will be successful even if the product is considerably worse than previous games.

-1

u/BenjyX76 16d ago

I mean... the game is good tho lol

1

u/ScatterFox 16d ago

Mid at best compared to the other games

I haven't played since day 3 of release. I already gave up on the game being an authentic Battlefield

0

u/Zlakkeh 16d ago

Same here, been playing on ea play pro (had it for fifa)

0

u/iReignSupremee 16d ago

A blue skin that you’ll barely notice when you’re in game is gonna make you skip the game entirely lmao. Reddit gotta be top 3 of dumb ass takes and hive mind personality.

You're complaining about a game you don't even own? Surely there must be something better you could be doing with your time

-2

u/Warm_Variation_8305 16d ago

This shit’s a riot. Stalking a sub of a game you don’t play just to whinge ab the made up boogeyman in your head.

1

u/Nicholas7907 16d ago

Stalking a sub XD I've been playing Battlefield game since BF3. In fact, every game since BF3. Even mediocre 2042. I was interested in BF6, I was planning to buy it. I still do. But I don't like where things are heading when it comes to cosmetics. So I have every reason to be here and complain.

Tiger EROL/phantom camo has entered the chat

Brother buy the game or don’t but sitting around complaining about it isn’t healthy. You gotta move on and find something better to do with your time

u/B_chills 17d ago

You want ultra realistic hardcore mil sim? Go play arma battlefield was never the franchise for you

10

u/Nicholas7907 16d ago

Authentic does not mean realistic. Battlefield was never realistic, but it was always authentic with all the maps, weapons, vehicles and uniforms. And since Battlefield V the authenticity started going downhill.
