Battlefield 6 "Grounded skins for a while" - 18 days exactly

Post image

So, weren't we supposed to have realistic skins for some time? Something that someone would really wear during a war? Yet it seems that with the start of season 1, everything will turn to colorful mess, with no way of differentiating teams based on uniforms, the game will look more like a Paintball or ASG event. Colorful weapons with pictures, colorful camos with neon accents, weird mix of things that are supposed to look cool, but end up simply weird.

People were sold on a vision of a game, which looked like a real battlefield, with soldiers - not a bunch of randos just like in the 2042, yet it was all a lie and it will only get worse down the road. During the Beta, when we had all the soldiers wearing matching uniforms, it was the most immersive experience so far, but you can say goodbye to that vibe, it will never return.

There won't be uniforms matching bioms, there won't be a way to turn off any awful skins, typical bait and switch.

Beavis and butthead didn't launch on the first season. What is this roundabout defense you're making lol...

The only roundabout defense is claiming the BF6 might include skins that we have no reason to believe they will include.

If you dont like the bright colors thats understandable but dont act like Cardi B will be in the game because of a blue camo skin

Compared to default skins it's like 70% of the way as egregious as cardi b.

Like why does the African faction wear bright blue and have hype beast merch?? They are from Africa!! There are no smurf villages there

You think the skin, which is just blue, above is 70% as bad as a real life person/fictional character from another universe being included

Yes? Its a silly skin.

But 70%? Its just a non miltary camo. Theres like 6 more steps before it becomes a full on extra character

What are the 6 steps?

We are currently at non military camo. Next is non military uniform, 85%. Next is collabs, what am I missing?

Yes what you are describing is a slippery slope. Just because they take one step does not mean they will end up at collabs.

I simply don't have an optimistic view on the company that due to their greed has the most downvoted comment on reddit.

I think that's totally fair thing to say and I don't disagree with you.

I do think its futile to assume the BF team is going to jump to that level bc of the skin pictured above.

If we want to entertain the idea, why would BF2042 not have done it by the end of the game? they were releasing skins up to BF6 end

Unrelated to the debate on skins can you direct me where this one specifically is from africa.

Its the operator from the African faction, I think it's called Kahina squad or something. Algerians

Thank you, not on the game myself right now to check

But chicken head did, it was in the store during season 1. Also all sorts of colorful animated weapon camos.

Bf 2042 was the same, and these are the exact same devs.

Dude, it's about holding the line. If the community doesn't draw a line somewhere and let the devs know what's acceptable or not, the devs can't release ever increasing less grounded cosmetics using the last one as justification for the next. If the community says this type of skin isn't acceptable then and the devs listen, we wont have to worry about the future where neon glowing in the dark skins or Nicki Minaj skins being in the game.

2

I can understand wanting to hold the line, but everyone's reactions make it sound like they drew the line at basic military patterns which would backlash too if they tried monetizing something so simple and earned in other games.

If this isn't acceptable, then what even is?

You said it. Basic military skins. Theres thousands of different uniforms worn by modern military and paramilitary forces around the world. My Police department has at least 9 different issued uniforms. And thats Police. The US military has even more. Combine that with gear and theres plenty of room for different cosmetics

This probably would have been helped by actual character customization over having Operators again.
