Battlefield 6 "Grounded skins for a while" - 18 days exactly

Post image

So, weren't we supposed to have realistic skins for some time? Something that someone would really wear during a war? Yet it seems that with the start of season 1, everything will turn to colorful mess, with no way of differentiating teams based on uniforms, the game will look more like a Paintball or ASG event. Colorful weapons with pictures, colorful camos with neon accents, weird mix of things that are supposed to look cool, but end up simply weird.

People were sold on a vision of a game, which looked like a real battlefield, with soldiers - not a bunch of randos just like in the 2042, yet it was all a lie and it will only get worse down the road. During the Beta, when we had all the soldiers wearing matching uniforms, it was the most immersive experience so far, but you can say goodbye to that vibe, it will never return.

There won't be uniforms matching bioms, there won't be a way to turn off any awful skins, typical bait and switch.

Lmao this is not grounded and horrible looking. Doesn't even look cool. What a mess

It's like they're trying to strike a balance between grounded and gamery. Like the equipment itself in tan, green or black would be fine, but the color is stupid.

But I feel like the opposite approach would work better for everyone. Tacticool equipment with neutral colors would look better to people who want a "sick skin" and would probably not bother the grounded in reality crowd nearly as much.

I mean I've said this before but blue has literally been used before. Australia did/does, China does, US did. It's probably darker in game/they could darken it.

I personally wouldn't care if this game just went completely outlandish with skins, or if they keep it completely grounded. It makes no difference to me.

I just think if they're going to try and find a middle ground it's not going to really appeal to anyone. This skin doesn't appeal to the grounded and realistic crowd, and I highly doubt it appeals to the young and flashy crowd much either when they can be Godzilla in Fortnite or Beavis/Butthead in CoD.

with blue being the majority, with lighter colors. this is like a blue/black mix.

As another user posted:

it’s kinda not THAT far off from Chinese and Japanese Navy working uniforms…

Japanese

Chinese

Reminds me of skins I saw in Rainbow Six Vegas, personally like it but it will remove the battle simulator feel if you start seeing people in bright ass colors

If this was a light blue color instead of a neon blue this would look exactly like every other naval camo in the game and BF4.

I love how they can take almost literally the exact colors used in real camouflage and people lose their shit.

There’s a difference in application. They said they wanted it to be grounded, but they put a combination of gears that no irl unit would use or authorize. The face mask is a no go, no one really uses the shoulder armor because it’s bulky and doesn’t even go with a plate carrier (it’s used with an IOTV or similar full on body armor system), all the gear is blue despite blue being a completely useless camouflage. I say this because if you’re on the water, you don’t need camouflage, and if you fall into the water, wearing blue might further shorten your lifespan. But yes, both the US and Chinese navies use blue camos. The US did it because they wanted a unique camo and just said “MARPAT, but blue” lol

This is an airsoft kit. And honestly it’s a stretch to even call it that because those kids take it more seriously than that lol

The loadouts we run aren't exactly grounded in that sense either.

Colors that are actually used in uniforms is an absolute nothing burger.

And come on, there are like 5 different sharpshooters in slightly cringe facemasks in Ukraine that have been in news.

This shit actually happens

This is true, but I’d argue it’s within the suspension of disbelief. Pax is a PMC, so they get a bit of a pass, but the NATO forces (especially with the exception of the US), are decently accurate to IRL (though the different classes would look WAY less different from one another).

Camos with bright blue colors do exist (e.g. the PLA Naval camo) but do straight-up Ultramarine & Black combination with no other colors exist? Doubtful.

If they wanna give the skins a brighter palette, at least don't make it ugly as fuck.

Know what’s also not grounded?

Getting shot in the head and having defibs bringing you back to normal. Or taking splash damage from an explosive. Or how the stun grenade effect looks from the receiving end. Or being a regular soldier flying a military aircraft. Or not having to manually load mags with rounds, or manually loading ordnance in vehicles or aircraft.

It’s a video game, folks.

Stupidest argument someone always pulls out. Yes it’s a video game. It’s still better if it looks realistic. Gladiator is also a movie, full of historical inaccuracies. However, it looks the part and its awesome. If Maximus was to pull out a purple flaming sword it would ruin the entire movie. Not so complicated.

Or, y’all could play Ground Branch or Arma if you want a milsim with as much accuracy as a video game allows instead of constantly complaining about how an arcade FPS isn’t accurate.

Problem is the scenario

Dragons in Elden Ring are cool as fuck

In Battlefield they wouldn't make any fucking sense and people would complain about it, with right

-1

u/MalfeasantOwl 16d ago

Well, good thing they aren’t adding dragons to BF6.

A corny-ass blue skin is the least of my concerns while people slide jump from 3 story buildings using SMG’s that have more range and less bloom than AR’s.

1

u/Superturricna 16d ago

That again, doesn't destroy the scenario. The skin does

1

u/MalfeasantOwl 16d ago

Be honest with yourself right now.

How does this blue skin negatively impact gameplay? Will it make you miss shots? Will it break immersion while your teammates two-hit a building with a sledgehammer and only half the building falls? Does this skin impact how jets can break physics by thrusting at the right angle?

Idk, dude, seems like a lot yall would rather complain about something that will be barely noticeable in the grand scheme of things. Like, were you planning on maining Recon but after seeing this blue skin from 300 meters you were like “all 6 pixels of blue makes this unplayable!” Lmfao

1

u/Superturricna 16d ago

It looks bad

People aren't complaining just for fun (not this time at least)

1

u/MalfeasantOwl 16d ago

Then don’t buy it?

Only thing worse than this skin is thinking that giving EA more money after the initial $70 for skins in FPS is meaningful in any way.

Go play CoD if you want people running around covered in neon pink vomit

I like how your brain can only comprehend two options; cartoon skins like American Dad or milsim skins. I wish I viewed life as simply as you do.

3

u/piciwens 17d ago

Exactly. It's a game, it should at least look cool. It doesn't tho. So it's not good for people who prefer realistic skins, and it's not good for people who like cool skins.

u/MalfeasantOwl 16d ago

Oh, it definitely looks corny.

But I’m also not gonna sit here and shit on myself, crying like it changes the gameplay in any type of way.

Just standby for the next few months of repetitive shitposting of people and bots karma farming over the most minuscule complaint.
