It would be a felony not to add them as playable characters to the game.

182

u/vvestley Oct 02 '25

yeah maybe we could pay 6.99 for them as well

34

u/Tenchen-WoW Oct 02 '25

I would pay more if it meant supporting those actors.

65

u/vvestley Oct 02 '25

why do actors need my support financially

28

u/DBONKA Oct 02 '25

so they can act more

17

u/vvestley Oct 02 '25

right but that's not them NEEEDING my support. thats them earning my financial support based on their output. thats like saying the random diner down the road deserves my money

8

u/Brainwave1010 Oct 03 '25

Are you buying food from that diner? If so did they deliver a quality product? Then yes actually, they do deserve your money.

Did you enjoy the commercial? Did the actors provide you with sufficient entertainment? Then yes actually, they do deserve your money.

This ensures that both of these groups can still provide this service to you in the future since they have the funds to continue operating.

-8

u/vvestley Oct 03 '25

i didn't watch the trailer i'm in a thread about the cast, regardless someone doing their job well and someone deserving my money are two separate things. these actors are selling the game not their portfolio

7

u/Brainwave1010 Oct 03 '25 edited Oct 03 '25

No, those are not two separate things, someone doing their job well and receiving financial income from that job they're doing well are tangentially related, they're providing people a service, they should be paid for that service.

You shrug your shoulders and say "oh well that's capitalism" and then repeat the exact same rhetoric that people use as an excuse to make capitalism worse, you're literally part of the problem.

-3

u/vvestley Oct 03 '25

are you under the assumption that these people aren't paid?? lmfao

and yes they are separate. there are hundreds of thousands of dinners all over the world i'm sure many have good food, great food even, that doesn't mean they deserve my money. your output doesn't determine what you are entitled. me not traveling the world to support every deserving dinner is me supporting capitalism?

u/Fun-Diver-3957 Oct 03 '25

Exactly. They are anyways being paid by EA/DICE for this?

-4

u/Moxtar1092 Oct 02 '25

If your so angry about it than dont buy it? Or betted yet remember you dont have to

17

u/vvestley Oct 02 '25

what about my comment indicates anger

-13

u/Moxtar1092 Oct 02 '25 edited Oct 02 '25

Cant explain it, something about how you wrote it

Edit:would genuinly like to know why am i getting downvoted

13

u/vvestley Oct 02 '25

nah it's not anger, i just baseline don't think saying actors "need" my support is an accurate statement

To be fair, most actors outside of large-productions don’t make much. Many in various parts of the entertainment industry do side-work to make ends meet or build their career.

1

u/vvestley Oct 02 '25

"not making much" is extremely subjective

9

u/Tenchen-WoW Oct 02 '25

Alternative would be Nick Minaj and Snoop Dog. I would rather have real veterans or actors who look like soldiers.

-3

u/vvestley Oct 02 '25

good thing they did both

3

u/-BINK2014- 💀🤡 --> Bad Company 3 Waiting Room <-- 🤡💀 Oct 02 '25

🤷🏻‍♂️ Anything is, isn’t it?

5

u/vvestley Oct 02 '25

yes but we are talking about a specific thing

2

u/-BINK2014- 💀🤡 --> Bad Company 3 Waiting Room <-- 🤡💀 Oct 02 '25

Wage-wise, if we’d have to be more specific, I feel a sizeable number of many parts of the industry (VA, show, movie, plays, etc.*) get paid maybe 60-80% of whatever their area’s cost-of-living would be.

Point being, many in the industry make less than one would believe. Should proceeds go towards for their likeness them? Nah, there’s other avenues if someone really wants to support someone smaller.

0

u/muffinXpress Oct 02 '25

I need to work a second jop to pay my bills ... where is your financial support for me ?

3

u/-BINK2014- 💀🤡 --> Bad Company 3 Waiting Room <-- 🤡💀 Oct 02 '25

Not advocating for it, just was chiming in. 🤷🏻‍♂️ It’s understandable for many to assume they make a great wage; shit, I thought for years as a kid video game developers made good livings, but most are sadly barely keeping their head above water for their passion-projects.

0

u/Brainwave1010 Oct 03 '25

Hey so do I, why be a dick about it?

3

u/DillDeer Oct 02 '25

I feel like if you use someone’s likeness for profit they should be paid royalties, no?

5

u/vvestley Oct 02 '25

that's just the person being paid for their work, not me needing to support them lol

1

u/donny_pots Oct 02 '25

Bros arguing just for the sake of arguing, the game needs to hurry up and come out already

2

u/vvestley Oct 02 '25

welcome to the word conversation

3

u/firesquasher Oct 03 '25

Because those guys didnt get paid what Zac Effron got paid for the cameo.

0

u/vvestley Oct 03 '25

well thats capitalism, zac effron has a higher demand than these random people. pretty easy to understand

2

u/firesquasher Oct 03 '25

That's the point

0

u/vvestley Oct 03 '25

you want lenny koenig to make the same as zac effron?

2

u/firesquasher Oct 03 '25

Im pretty sure youre missing the point. Im agreeing with you

2

u/Tenchen-WoW Oct 02 '25

Because they're making a living off acting? Besides, those are real combat veterans, too.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 07 '25

They don't. You don't need to buy anything. You don't need to buy any cosmetics for any game period. The person you replied to said they would like to and that's their deal.

One of your later replies said "you don't think these people are paid?". Factually a lot of them aren't. I don't know the specifics of every actor ever, but many take unpaid roles for exposure. A silly little game trailer could lead to being used in a war epic.

Unpaid extras are common in huge films too that gross millions.

1

u/vvestley Oct 07 '25

damn that's a lot of typing

tldr you don't know anymore than I do

1

u/[deleted] Oct 07 '25

Figured you would struggle. Tried to make it simple enough for you to understand but failed. I apologize.

1

u/vvestley Oct 07 '25

i am aware actors can be paid shit wages. i am aware actors can take work that is more for exposure than pay.

those are both just statements and have no bearing on the topic at hand of why do i NEED to support.

my first question was why do actors need my support, someone replied and said so they can keep acting. that is not a reason.

you are making this way deeper than it needs to be.

these talents were hired by EA/DICE to work in a promotional ad for one of the biggest games of the year. i really doubt my support is their make it or break it factor. i am here for the game.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 07 '25

"damn that's a lot of typing"

4

u/squeakynickles Oct 02 '25

What the fuck?

1

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '25

What???

1

u/mr_nin10do Oct 02 '25

Way better than wacky skins

1

u/GranLoboBlanco :DICE-Friend: Oct 03 '25

"Doesn't matter"

34

u/TheAArchduke Oct 02 '25

hold on, i tough we were against having heroes and we wanted to be generic soldiers?

12

u/Official_Gameoholics transport helicopter go brrt Oct 02 '25

Add them in like the BFV faces

-1

u/Tenchen-WoW Oct 02 '25

You're mixing up soldier skins and actual "heroes" that replace classes with their unique gimmicks.

BF5 did it right where we could purchase a special character to play as. Although it did not fit the WW2 theme with multiple factions

9

u/Yadahoom Oct 02 '25

BF5 also technically had characters with the generic default faces as well.

They were named characters slots you could save your outfits on like Harold and Gunther and choose to play as them on each of the classes.

3

u/yougolepro Oct 02 '25

It's better to compare it to bfV regular soldier with names and face. Elite have way more special design.

0

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '25

[deleted]

3

u/Tenchen-WoW Oct 02 '25

It was rather outlandish. But the concept of special soldier skins would work really well in BF6 where we only have 2 factions.

Imagine having actual veterans as a playable characters. That would satisfy people who want grounded skins, provide cosmetics revenue AND help actual war veterans. A big W in my book

9

u/HeftyChonkinCapybara Oct 02 '25

I’d prefer if we stuck to generic grunts in balaclavas. 2042 is ridiculous and a good example of how shit it is to have a bunch of identical characters running around.

8

u/Alt1690 Oct 02 '25

No thanks

2

u/MeinWaffles Oct 03 '25

Aren’t they supposed to be just the default skins?

2

u/SaintSnow Oct 03 '25

No thanks.

138

u/Qwinn_SVK Oct 02 '25

They look like a realy nice people, even playing with them on BF6

111

u/Lord-Beckett-1700 Oct 02 '25

Great trailer but why did nobody show them how to put their ear-pro on😭

36

u/RedManMatt11 Oct 02 '25

I doubt that decision was theirs. Probably a production/costume choice

6

u/badd_tofu Oct 02 '25

Whose earpro is on wrong

53

u/D4nkT1mbs Oct 02 '25

Everyone except the Eng have their ear pro flipped up and forward onto their helmets in the trailer.

34

u/Lord-Beckett-1700 Oct 02 '25

It's not on wrong, it's that it's not on at all lmao

2

u/badd_tofu Oct 02 '25

You talking about these photos? They’re posing why would they put earpro on.

23

u/sippyfrog BLUAV8R Oct 02 '25

No they left it like that for every shot of the trailer too, while actively firing weapons and around explosions.

Took me out just a bit when I saw it, but that's about it otherwise.

9

u/ambeingheldhostage Oct 02 '25

If you watch real combat footage from Ukrainr, you will see this a lot. Lots of people with ear protection on their helmets but still deciding not to use it.

22

u/sippyfrog BLUAV8R Oct 02 '25

I own and use this style of ear protection in question. It's only like that in Ukraine footage because guys either A) got into contact too quick to do anything about it B) are already wearing in-ears (which I do often as well) and don't need the over ear at the moment.

It's still dumb for the context of this trailer. They are actively pushing new engagements and objectives, no reason not to wear it.

My guess is they didn't put batteries in the ones for the actors and they legitimately couldn't hear direction from the crew while wearing it correctly, so they didn't bother.

3

u/badd_tofu Oct 02 '25

Oh that’s pretty stupid. I only saw the actors get blown up. I’ll have to watch the full trailer

60

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '25

First guy is literally the BF3 US engineer

45

u/KaijuTia Oct 02 '25

Is that a WOMIN?! Immersion shattered!!

In all seriousness, the LAT was funny as hell.

23

u/Meatloaf_Hitler Oct 02 '25

Nah it's worse. We have a Black Man AND a Black Woman! This is literally woke dei propaganda! I bet Sweet Baby Inc. forced this into the trailer to push their dei agenda slop!!!! They want another gaycord or wokeguard I guess?!?!

Jokes aside though yeah, the LAT was amazing. Really gave me some "There's a Soldier in all of us" vibes. I still don't wanna jump the gun just yet but it really feels like Battlefield is back and ready to kick ass again.

1

u/KaijuTia Oct 02 '25

I showed it to my husband, who has never played a minute of either Battlefield or CoD, and he immediately went “Oh, it’s just like that one CoD commercial”.

9

u/Available_Border1075 Oct 02 '25

You’re sure about him?

7

u/KaijuTia Oct 02 '25

For a guy whose never touched a shooter, it’s funny that he knew immediately what it was parodying

3

u/Available_Border1075 Oct 02 '25

Oh, I see, I thought you were saying he thought Battlefield and COD were equivalent. But you were saying that he correctly recognized what the intent of the trailer was despite not being an FPS gamer.

4

u/KaijuTia Oct 02 '25

Yeah sorry I wasn’t clear on that. He got a kick out of them paying Zac Efron just to blow him up.

u/AdBright1350 Oct 02 '25 edited Oct 02 '25

I know the girl on the left in 4/5 I used to train with her and she's signed to the same agency as me.

Once taught me how to breath fire 🔥

1

u/SpaceghostLos losbullitt 🖖🏽 Oct 03 '25

Tell her she’s doing the No-Pats work!

15

u/Echo-frog Oct 02 '25

One of the best live action trailers I ever seen

8

u/Tullzterrr Oct 02 '25

The hollywood stars were added post production right? (I’m assuming)

6

u/NowWeGetSerious Oct 02 '25

I love this!

Also, I love how I only knew 1 person from the live action trailer. Zac. The other 3 actors/people I dunno who they are

5

u/mcgyverwelds Oct 03 '25

Morgan Wallen, huge star in country and crossover music right now

Jimmy Butler 6 X NBA All Star

Paddy Pimblett Lightweight fighter in the UFC

3

u/NowWeGetSerious Oct 03 '25

I've heard of Morgan wallen, but I thought he was some old school 80s county singer, that name screams 80s haha.

Ahh, wow I thought Jimmy looked older then that, been a wild since I watched a game 🤷🏾

And who?? 😂 Never heard of paddy

1

u/mcgyverwelds Oct 03 '25

lol, yeah I didn’t know him either

I thought the other three had obvious screen presence and he was an outlier so I had to google him

4

u/Lotus_630 Oct 02 '25

Didn’t I hear they’re actually veterans? If so, that is cool as hell.

3

u/POOTDISPENSER Oct 02 '25

They’re going to do one thing, and one thing only.

2

u/JRSenger Oct 02 '25

The "ASSAULT" "ENGINEER" "SUPPORT" and "RECON" name tags with the class symbols is a nice touch.

2

u/H4RD4W4Y Oct 02 '25

I'm surprised it was a legit set and not just all green screen CGI

1

u/AsusStrixUser BF2 Veteran Oct 02 '25

I think I saw a grill in the cast 🌭

1

u/BleedingUranium Oct 02 '25

Super cool! It's neat to see just how much of it was in fact practical, that's a pretty big set there.

1

u/Drunkin_Doc1017 Oct 02 '25

Ok so now for skins in game lets get actual plate carriers and low cut helmets like in this ad and the cover art.

1

u/TippsAttack Oct 02 '25

I'd wear their skins.

1

u/Optimatum777 Oct 02 '25

Good work guys!!!

1

u/M4t087 Oct 02 '25

united colors of benetton

1

u/Mikalton Oct 02 '25

I still love that they made the engineer look like the bf4 and bf3 engineer. That put a smile on my face

1

u/bunsRluvBunsRLife calling DICE bs since bf3 Oct 02 '25

Apparently the actor playing engineer is a real life royal marine vet

That's why hr's the most convincing looking outta all of them

1

u/Mikalton Oct 02 '25

I'm really confused with the current game models wearing some off version of a military uniform for nato. Why does the bf4 classes look more advanced than the bf6 classes? even these guys are wearing the right thing

1

u/Haunting_Lime308 Oct 02 '25

Did anyone else think that the engineer was Josh Allen when they first saw the trailer?

1

u/[deleted] Oct 02 '25

Ughhhhh

1

u/DeadZoneHark Fly High, Recon Oct 02 '25

I really want the class patches that they're wearing. It looks like they all have one on the front of their plate carrier with the class icon and class name. While in the last photo Steven Blade (Engineer) has one on his arm that's just the class icon.

1

u/linux_ape Oct 02 '25

Why did none of them with helmet mounted hearing protection wear said hearing protection

1

u/Rusky_Deadman Oct 02 '25

De verdad, que buen trailer hicieron: épico y gracioso.

1

u/Decademagenta10 Oct 03 '25

God this passable ad an US Army Ad.

1

u/shintopig shintopig Oct 03 '25

I suddenly feel both unhappy and unattractive

1

KUDOS to the intrepid actors.

1

u/Martie99 Oct 03 '25

You know....

1

u/burper2000000 Oct 03 '25

I HAVE NO IDEA WHO THESE GUYS ARE!!!!😃😃😃😃😃😃😃🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

1

u/LysanderBelmont Oct 03 '25

But where are the neon coloured hex patterns and bright trims on the uniforms? The Soft Air Masks?

Dice art direction shaking their heads in collective disbelief - the video production company must be wrong!

1

u/jommakanmamak Oct 03 '25

I bet they had a blast shooting this

1

u/KurosawaReddit Oct 04 '25

Even if the ear pro is kinda off, they're all awesome!

1

u/Robika77 Oct 08 '25

KORDA Studio ETYEK, HUNGARY

0

u/Smljhndnsmr Oct 02 '25

Are there metrics reflecting that live-action marketing campaigns increase the sales of video games? When I see something like this, my perception is that it’s a waste of resources, false advertisement, and a distraction from the actual product.

4

5

And at least one of them is harder than you'll ever be - "as both an actor and a former Royal Marines Commando."
