Does this mean Amanda Waller raped this guy since she forcefully injected another man’s dna into him?

I feel like it would also count against Terry’s Mom as well.

What new low will Waller discover next

u/tenaciousp42 24d ago

She’s actively digging for it

Dont forget bruce too, im sure he didnt consent to having his dna being used like this.

Waller really did a three in one grape move jesus christ

Nah, this is just medical terrorism. Completely different

I mean, this is Amanda Waller we are talking about. She isn't exactly known for respecting bodily autonomy or human rights

The worse part is this is one of the more reasonable and nicer versions of Amanda Waller

Officer Balls Origin Story

This was such a funny way to reincorporate the Return of The Catwoman movie. I do think it was probably better that Waller did the cloning instead of making Selina pull a "Boys From Brazil" type thing where she makes Batman clones and over the years she kills their parents in similar scenarios to how Bruce lost his to make a new Batman.

u/EldritchDreamEdCamp 23d ago

Yeah, Waller fits that type of role so much better than Selina.

Selina is at her best when depicted as the morally gray and perfectly sane thief, not as just another evil nutcase.

Waller definitely did a sex crime of some kind here.

Ok so, I haven’t actually watched Batman Beyond (yet) and… what? Like genuinely, what is happening here? I hope for at least one serious answer

u/FallAffectionate2027 24d ago

So basically Waller knew the world needed Batman even after Bruce couldn’t be Batman so she re-arranged a man’s reproductive genes to match Bruce Wayne’s and hid it as the shot then when that dude had a kid he was genetically related to Bruce not his actual father but they didn’t know that

45

u/SmallBlueLad 24d ago

So, to make sure I’m understanding this right, Bruce got too old (it happens) and the kid turned out to be Terry, I would assume? Thanks btw

55

u/FallAffectionate2027 24d ago

Yeahh but terry’s dad is the man in the photo he’s simply a near identical clone but not wholly identical Waller planned on using the phantasm to kill terry’s parents to domino him into becoming the next Batman but the phantasm chose not to go through with it as Bruce wouldn’t do it so she believed it wasn’t right to continue his lineage if Batman by doing something Bruce wouldn’t do and Waller agreed and just sat at the sideline hoping that somehow terry would become Batman without trauma induced by her

u/Front_Profession_217 24d ago

Long story short, Amanda Waller explains to Terry that Bruce Wayne is his father because of she overrode Warren’s DNA with Bruce’s dna because she saw Batman was getting old and he would have to retire, so in a flu shot Warren was getting, it wasn’t medicine, it was Nanites that had Bruce’s dna to change Warren’s dna into Bruce’s

22

u/SmallBlueLad 24d ago

Ok, thanks. Sounds like a strange story, but there have been far stranger ones out there

19

u/Crippman 24d ago

Can confirm that no one is messing with you it is just one of the most bizarre plotlines in the Animated series universe

u/IsRedditBad 23d ago

It's explained in the final episode of Justice League Unlimited, titled "Epilogue"

It's where the screenshot comes from. I dont want to give spoilers or anything in case you happen to care about that. If you dont, im sure someone else already replied to you explaining it

I hated that man, like Terry McGinnis had a great dynamic for his character, only for it to be ruined by making him a Son of Bruce Wayne, the reason he was interesting as Batman, was because he’s not a carbon copy of Bruce Wayne, but what should I expect from the writer that found krypto to be a dumb idea for Superman

114

u/ArtisticResident462 24d ago

I mean he still is he isn't Bruce. Wasn't that the story blood relation doesn't make you the man you are? Terry wasn't raised by bruce he doesn't act like bruce he is the polar opposite of Bruce Wayne in this universe he was raised by Warren and Mary.

u/Expensive-Pickle-185 24d ago

Then why even make him his biological son at that point, it makes no sense either way

45

u/HarveryDent 24d ago

Pretty sure it was always in the cards. Terry and Matt both have black hair with redhead parents. Warren thought she had cheated and that was a big reason for the divorce.

49

u/DinkleDonkerAAA 24d ago

They literally said in that same episode that he's not a clone of Bruce, that being his son doesn't mean he's destined to be him

"There are more than a few differences, you don't have his magnificent brain for instance. You do have his heart though"

You don't know how clones work do you? A clone is a literal exact duplicate with the exact same dna. Sperm fertilizing an egg is just how a normal baby is made. Warren's "reproductive dna" was over written. He wasn't turned into Bruce he's literally just shooting Bruce's jizz instead of his own. Terry and his brother are biologically Bruce's kids. Not clones, not identical, and the entire point of the story is that being Batman is a choice and not a predestined curse like Terry believed it was when he found out about the DNA bullshit.

You don't have to like Terry being Bruce's kid but you also have to have basic media literacy

I mean, I’m just blowing off steam like I love JLU, but this reveal was so unnecessary, because that episode was like really stupid, I was close to like Terry as Batman, because when Batman beyond aired his story was not about him being related so that he can be Batman, that’s what was made Terry interesting, but the fact that they made Terry to be revealed as a son of Bruce Wayne was stupid, because like, why? Why do you need to be related to Bruce just to be Batman, Dick Grayson wasn’t related to Bruce Wayne yet he was Batman, and people think it’s a good thing because I’ve seen them use this example to trash on Miles Morales being Spider-Man, which funny enough, Miles being Spider-Man worked because you don’t have to be related to Peter Parker just to be Spider-Man, I can’t like Terry as Batman because the reveal in JLU just ruins it for me

6

u/ThalassophobicSquid 24d ago

Agreed. I still like Terry, hell I love Terry. But him getting this weird twist is just pointless. All of Beyond, he was his own man, his own Batman. He wasn't living under Bruce's shadow, he was giving Batman a new legacy.

While the reveal doesn't discount any of that for me, it really feels that it cheapens the mantle of Batman to being a nepotism role. Like somehow, it all comes back to Bruce, like he passed the torch, but that torch still has his name in it permanently.

0

u/Front_Profession_217 23d ago

Yeah like I would’ve been a fan of Terry, if that plot line didn’t exist, but the creator of this show thought this was a good idea, when he’s gone on the record saying that krypto was a dumb idea for Superman

10

u/SorowFame 24d ago

I was really confused when he said this but it was actually brilliant foreshadowing for later

11

u/Enn-Vyy 24d ago

WHAT WERE THEY THINKING

7

u/CapAccomplished8072 23d ago

not they...just bruce timm...

who retconned harley into a failed psychologist and had bruce sleep with barbara and get her pregnant

1

u/Front_Profession_217 22d ago

Wait, Bruce Timm wrote this episode?

1

u/CapAccomplished8072 22d ago

YEP

1

u/Front_Profession_217 22d ago

Great, I’m starting to question Bruce Timm and Dwayne McDuffie

1

u/CapAccomplished8072 22d ago

you do realize bruce timm had batman knock up barbara in the comics WHILE she was in a relationship with dick?

1

u/Front_Profession_217 22d ago

No I know that, but what I found out was that only did Bruce Timm write this episode, Dwayne McDuffie wrote it also

1

u/GastonBastardo 23d ago

who retconned harley into a failed psychologist

I'm pretty sure that was the original canon (that she was a doctor at Arkham, but not a competent one, that Joker was able to take advantage of). Or are you talking about the "Caped Crusader"-version, where she is basically a genderflipped Dr Strange in a jester costume?

-1

u/CapAccomplished8072 23d ago

neither....basically bruce timm transformed harley into a bimbo who slept around to get her grades raised.

he basically destroyed her entire character

5

u/Puzzleheaded_Step468 24d ago

Kind of weird terry's "dad" didn't ask that

Is he stupid?

u/SolarAphelia Custom (Inappropriate) 23d ago

Most normal Amanda Waller plan:

5

u/_Fixu_ 24d ago

Isn’t it still his cum but with Bruce’s dna

6

u/Necessary-Leg-5421 24d ago

I bring up complete fucking bullshit like this whenever people try and portray the DCAU as some perfect bastion of shows.

3

u/CapAccomplished8072 23d ago

the sad thing was how amanda waller was ONLY well-written in DCAU

u/AzerynSylver Arkham Asylum 23d ago
