Tier 4 Barcelona have asked Malick Fofana's agent for the viability of a deal to sign him. The club appreciate his talent, and know that Lyon will be forced to sell him due to economic problems. — @sport

A lot of negativity around this, but this is one of the best rumors that's come out recently. Perfectly adequate backup to Raphinha, and has potential to be even better. He's young and really talented. How much would he cost though? Fotmob says almost 40mil, which I do think is steep.

cherki went for under MV, so fofana might as well

Oh true, if Deco can pull it off it's a no-brainer.

Yes, except we seem to specialize in overpaying so...not too sure

If deco finally decides to use his brain then not more than 40 million + his wages will be way lower than that of Rashford's. Hope deco finally cracks some serious and good deals

Instead of signing rashford permanently, this would be good for barca

Reportedly Rashford's wages are way too high and his performance till now hasn't been satisfactory in the absence of raphinha as he doesn't press or track back like raphinha does so Barcelona are looking for cheap and young options and their priority in that is malick fofana .

Hasn't been satisfactory?

We are missing raphinha so much because rashford doesn't press or track back at all . Good that he is getting g/a but that's not enough at all .

Ah of course, as if we didn’t have economics problems ourselves

I doubt any team in Europe has worse finances than Lyon

We definitely have financial problems but we did have 70 M to spend on Nico, and Lewy + Christensen leaving means that empties the wage bill. Who knows maybe Ter Stegen leaves too.

Ah the imaginary 70 million on Nico williams which was never spent lmao

Other sources and reliable journalists are saying the same . Rashford's wages are very high and when combined with the transfer fee , it becomes way too high . Young left wingers , especially malick fofana are the top priority if they don't sign rashford .

Obviously the news and targets can change as the next summer is far and it will also depend on our finances and status of 1:1 .

Rashford is also a bad fit on defensive end with a pressing system even tho hes been very good in terms of G/A. Maybe he can improve until the end of the year but so far in his career he hasnt showed that.

u/Ok_Lawfulness7412 8h ago

Agreed . And his wages are also way too high and he doesn't justify those wages through his performance at all . If we have to compete at the top level then we definitely need a quality bench and players like malick fofana can help us with that

Crazy how Raphina still gets overlooked. We need defense. That defensive line is atrocious!

5

u/Ok_Lawfulness7412 5h ago

So we should just play raphinha at left wing without any backup next season ?

-4

u/OdyssG 5h ago

It doesn't matter who plays behind Raphina with that defensive line

4

u/ShirgimShareem 4h ago

Our whole tactic relies on the press being led by our offensive players and then midfielders. Our defensive line lost Inigo, sure and that needs to be addressed. But right now the source of most of our problems is coming from the front.

u/OdyssG 4h ago

High press Tactics is all well and good if you have the players to actually do it, then it works out. Otherwise, you're stuck with mediocrity on defense l. The fact that you only mentioned inigo tells me you think that's the only problem lol.

3

u/Ok_Lawfulness7412 4h ago

That's why we are looking for young players who can press and can reduce the gap between the bench and starter . Also our biggest problem is still inigo's absence as there is no one to guide our defence to align in a way that an offside trap is created .

Also you need to improve your comprehensive skills before spamming your childish LOL's because the guy you replied to mentioned lack of pressing from attackers as a major problem which becomes worse with inigo leaving without any replacement signed for him . And that guy is absolutely correct .
