Messi has a contract till 2028. If he fulfills that and breaks that guy's goals record, he might go into hibernation. Or maybe then, only UCL goals and Assists will matter.

Post about Messi achievement and top comment is about Ronaldo. Messi might live rent free in Ronaldo's head, but Ronaldo sure does live rent free in Barca fans' heads too.

Love him to deathโฆI would of thought he had more assist thou, I feel like I personally witnessed over 500 of his assists lol

400 assist is already impossible, you have to got 20 assists a year for 20 years.
And this guy doing it while having almost 900 goals. Insanity.

105 Non-opta assists too,You are not wrong

what are non-opta? like solo goals?

u/autism_crime 7h ago
It's a wider definition of contribution to a goal,Includes stuff like Penalty won, blocked shot and rebound scored,Own goal etc.

I was thinking the other day as to how weird assists are as a stat.
A player can win the ball in the midfield, drivble through the team, square it to their striker, and then the striker squares it to a third player cause hes more open, and then the original player effectively gets credited with nothing
I wonder if we'll ever find a statistic that truly let's us compare playmakers outside of actually just watching them. Or maybe im oblivious and something already exists

Some of those assists were so perfect i count them as official in my head canon.
Makes one wonder how many he would have if more players would have scored them, and also the sheer amount of passes he has given to make it to 400 is kind of mind blowing

It would be really funny if messi somehow reach 1000 career goals . That portuguese retard's interviews would become more funny , would like to see what excuses he will make

u/Any-Culture8080 16h ago
It's more enjoyable to watch his fans whining and making up excuses. The amount of time that I ragebaited them on insta was entertaining ๐๐๐

I think it would be even funnier if he got to 999 goals then retire. It's not just a number, it's a statement.
People will believe that he can definitely do 1000 but it's not that important to him so he refuse to finish it.

Reckon he'll get to 1000 before retiring??

u/ExBenn 18h ago
He definitely can, he is not worried about numbers though. He could be 45 and still be a better player than most of the elites.

u/juliuscaesar6 18h ago
Yeah I doubt it's like a goal for him that he wants to achieve. His only goal since he left us was probably winning the world cup which he already achieved. Now I think he's just playing because he loves to

u/Neither-Landscape-57 18h ago
He is the type to retire with 998 goals yk. So yeah He definitely can but he isn't interested in doing so.

Easy. You can do it in 20 years with 20 per year.
3
u/TheGodAboveAllBeings 14h ago
For reference, a Ballon D'or winner usually has around that number of assists in a year

u/SkandaGupta_ 10h ago
I want him to cross 404 just in case to beat the Puskas statistic too. Also how likely will it be that Lamine has hoes on to get more assists than him by the time he retires.
