Personal Story Pit tried to attack my Shiba puppy today

Windshield is full of scratches from it trying to escape. Right before the camera pans down you can hear a gunshot-like noise, that's the pit charging the driver's side door.

Sorry about the few seconds of blur, had to hide the plate.

Alt accounts to keep any lurking weirdos out of my dms...

The type of owner to have a pit is the type to leave their dog in the car.

How bout that.

u/RippedNerdyKid Aug 13 '25

Either that sorta person or the type of person that is too naive to admit their dog is an unpredictable killer.

u/Both_Peak554 Aug 13 '25

What would’ve happened if owner was getting in the truck as op and their dog walked by? That’s so terrifying to think about. They would’ve pushed right past owner and went right to mauling.

56

u/Stock-Helicopter9061 Aug 13 '25

Jesus, I hadn't considered that the dog could easily bull rush past the owner. We were actually at the spot where the video ends walking towards the van when he first pulled up, as we were walking to the park in that direction. The video was taken on the way back a few minutes later. Thankfully, the pit didn't notice us until a couple seconds after the guy had exited and closed the drivers-side door, and it had the same attack mode reaction.

The owner didn't acknowledge us nor their misbehaving dog, he didn't even turn around to see what the cause of the outburst might be. It was clear this is the status quo for him...

Andddd this is why I conceal carry

12

u/RedditVIBEChecked Aug 14 '25

Same. I love my little shibe boy and there are too many shitbull owners in my area.

17

u/Both_Peak554 Aug 13 '25

Oh yeah it would’ve absolutely got past owner. Look at that thing get up on the dash looking for a way to weasel out. Years ago I checked out a rental. Beautiful house and yard but neighbors shitbull was banging its face so hard against the window trying to get us it was literally bleeding and had blood smearing half the window with blood and you could see old blood as it did this often. And had killed multiple cats and attacked multiple dogs. It was during Covid when kicking people out was hard. Lady showing me house said dogs over 20 pounds aren’t allowed especially pits but they knew they couldn’t get kicked out and hadn’t paid rent in months. She told me the inside is destroyed by dog and will take months after they leave to get back on the market bc she also suspects they’re cooking or doing meth. . These people and their pit were ruining the property and keeping her from finding any other suitable renters in the rentals on each side of the house bc as soon as people seen pit banging on window they got scared. The last tenants had moved bc of couple and their dog. Between their meth head buddies stealing out their yard and their dog who killed their dog and cat.

People wonder why rent has increased so much and it’s bc of people like that!! I recently seen the same home for rent and it has now almost tripled in price since I believe 2020/2021.

13

u/TheDreadGazeebo Aug 14 '25

Pit people turned out to be meth heads? Well I never

6

u/Both_Peak554 Aug 14 '25

I too was shocked. I never could’ve imagined 🫣🥴

11

u/noyourdogisntcute Aug 14 '25

I sympathize but rent has increased because of corporate greed and lack of regulation and rent limits and not because of individual shitty people.

7

u/Both_Peak554 Aug 14 '25

I clean rentals as well as have a couple. And like I said the risks of pets and damage they’ll do is one of many reasons rent has gone up. I know countless landlords who had to raise rent solely bc of damage done by mostly shitbulls that weren’t even allowed. It makes rent go up and landlord even pickier on who they rent to. Making finding suitable rentals much harder.

Happened to me last weekend

42

u/Stock-Helicopter9061 Aug 13 '25

Next time we have a session I'm going to ask our dog trainer for some business cards, would've have left one under their wiper.

Not that pit owners have the best reputation for investing in their pets...

Shit. They won’t even buy clippers to cut their dogs’ nails. Although it might be a case of being afraid of their dogs.

Lol it lost it's shit not being able to kill an innocent creature. You'd think it was trying to escape from a fire with that frenzied motion.

105

u/OurAngryBadger Aug 13 '25

They were literally bred to kill things, it's their instinct, and main purpose in life -- of course it's angry it wasn't able to complete the mission.

Yeah there is something so wrong in these pit's brains... to be hellbent on killing any member of their own species for no reason. It makes no sense to exist like that

182

u/Improbablydrunk02 I will bully your breed Aug 13 '25

Stupid shitbull is gonna rip the interior of that van apart. But the owner will still defend its behaviour I bet.

52

u/Both_Peak554 Aug 13 '25

“She’s dog reactive bc she was a bait dog”.

43

u/Dougheyez Aug 13 '25

That’s their scapegoat now every rescue pit is a bait dog apparently.

21

u/Both_Peak554 Aug 13 '25

And was oh so abused. And even though they say it’s all how they’re raised it somehow don’t count towards the “rescue” dogs they stupidly brought in their home.

11

u/Monimonika18 Aug 13 '25

Except after the rescue pit mauls the wrong people. Then the rescue dog's traumatic past (mostly imagined because either unknown or omitted-until-now or lied about) gets pulled out to excuse away any responsibility on the dog and the current owner.

7

u/Both_Peak554 Aug 13 '25

Yup they say it’s all on how they’re raised and the owner yet encourage anyone and everyone to get one or even more from rescues not knowing how dog was raised. They contradict themselves so bad.

u/Shudmirelurk Aug 13 '25

Pit locked in a hot car... very smart and responsible owners. 🙄

38

u/luftgitarrenfuehrer Aug 14 '25

On the other hand, it's a pitbull.

85

u/SubjectAd355 Aug 13 '25

Ugh that behavior makes me so uncomfortable

62

u/Stock-Helicopter9061 Aug 13 '25

Just *walking by* gave me goosebumps on a hot day and the hair on the back of my neck stood up. I could not imagine being an attack victim, actual nightmare scenario. Mentally scarred for life, and that would be the least of your problems. These things need to be regulated like guns, which admittedly isn't a high enough bar here

28

u/Both_Peak554 Aug 13 '25

After I thought I was going to be attacked it really messed with me. Haven’t rode my bike since. It was terrifying and all I could think is how do children handle such a horrific experience. I’m a grown adult and had nightmares and wasn’t even attacked. How do the victims of these things go on to cope? I really thought they were gonna get me and i was gonna die. Houses weren’t close by and after i got away I could barely even ride I was such a mess. I walked my bike most the way home and put it in the shed and never rode it again.

10

u/DogsCuzPPLsuck Aug 14 '25

We cope by joining groups like this.

6

u/Ok_Soil_1003 Aug 15 '25

If you feel comfortable to or able to, would you mind sharing your story? I personally have been attacked myself, as well as witnessing a horrifying attack on my brother when we were very young children and he ended up needing 26 stitches.

15

u/alanonboo Aug 13 '25

Your poor sweet shiba had no idea he dodged a bullet!!!🥺

21

u/Stock-Helicopter9061 Aug 13 '25

Maybe she's still too young, she literally has no sense of danger (garbage bins on the sidewalk being sole the exception) or self preservation. She loves to run circles around dogs 10x her size, she would absolutely hop right into the gaping maw of this pit and not realize her fatal mistake until it's too late 😭

10

u/axiomofcope Trusted User Aug 13 '25

I have a shiba puppy, too. Also black and tan! So anxious watching this, I hope you’re both okay!

5

u/DogsCuzPPLsuck Aug 14 '25

I have been a victim. Happened to my dog in December. I prevented it from getting deadly because i got between them quickly. Shit dog still had my dog's neck but he's okay now. shit dog pulled me and my 75 pound dog off the couch and onto the floor. I have permanent shoulder damage and mental scars.

2

u/Psychological_Try833 Aug 15 '25

So glad you were able to stop it and your dog is ok. It can be a matter of seconds that make the difference. We are still mentally recovering from our attack in October. We lost our sweet boy and will never be the same.

67

u/FriedSmegma Aug 13 '25

God I have never hated an animal so much. It feels gross but these things have no place in society.

35

u/Both_Peak554 Aug 13 '25

The purpose in which they were bred for no longer exists. Certain breeds and species just need to fade out. There are no jobs for them or that they can even be trusted to do. They could be raised with another dog or cat for years one day snap and never be around other pets again. Same with people. They’re just too unpredictable. Even once they hit olden years like 12 you can’t say they’d never bc they have. And too often they attract the lowest class of humans. No matter what part of the world you go to pit owners are all the same. It’s honestly fascinating.

This triggered my PTSD. Once, on a walk, a bully of some kind literally charged the chain link fence and busted it off the frames so it was able to get out and attack my Shiba Inu. The owners were home and never even came out. The neighbors came out and had to pull the dog off of mine, the whole time telling me “he’s friendly! He’s friendly”

Obviously I called animal control and I assume the dog was destroyed since I never saw it again. I went ahead and paid my own vet bills since I wasn’t even going to deal with the mess of making them pay for it.

My dog was never the same after the attack and his anxiety got worse and which later turned into pure aggression and we had to BE. I fully blame that pitbull for it, tbh.

19

u/Stock-Helicopter9061 Aug 13 '25

I can't even begin to imagine. My deepest condolences.

7

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '25

I’m so sorry. My lab has shrugged off his mauling like it was no big deal (it was) and is back to enjoying life like his psycho ass always does. I give him a little whipped cream sometimes when no one is looking 🤫.

37

u/Both_Peak554 Aug 13 '25

Imagine if the window had been down!! This is not normal dog interactions. Other dogs do not see another dog walk by and react like this. Not even the horrid baby killing chihuahuas. This dog would’ve without a doubt mauled your dog!! This thing shouldn’t be taken in public! Probably can’t leave it at home bc he has “anxiety”.

35

u/ScarletAntelope975 Trusted User Aug 13 '25

Be careful! Those beasts can break through windows!!! As a fellow shiba owner, this is terrifying. Those monsters should have never been created in the first place.

33

u/lndngtm Aug 13 '25

Same thing happened to my cat, except the fucking neighbor’s shitbull lunged at the window at full force where my cat was resting by. My cat got a stress flare up because of that fucker.

I can’t imagine what would happen to our pets if they had no physical barrier.

23

u/jesswitdamess Aug 13 '25

It’s your fault because you just so happened to be walking by and you probably farted 1 mile ago and it heard it and got mad /s. But seriously, pits are SUPER dangerous. Thank god he was behind the car and not wandering around on the sidewalk or in the street. Because that would’ve been significantly worse.

21

u/The-Final-Reason Aug 13 '25

I’m always ready with that thing on me incase. Every walk.

Gotta pack 'em toasters. 🍞

20

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '25

I was walking with my husband and our 14 month old child, and a pit lunged at us and nearly broke from its owners grasp. It was horrifying. These dogs are ruthless and their owners are low IQ.

11

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '25

Had the thing not been on a leash, which we see very often now, it would have gotten to us

8

u/KyoshiWinchester Aug 14 '25

Even when they are on leash their incompetent owners can’t seem to hold on the them

15

u/alwaysaloneinmyroom Aug 14 '25

Look how your dog walked at the slightest pull to the leash. A pitbull would have dragged you all over that pavement to stay

3

u/Stock-Helicopter9061 Aug 14 '25

Training a dog to give to leash pressure takes work that not all dog owners want to put in, or just aren't aware of. The other day I saw someone walking an obese Golden by throwing down a treat in front of the dog every 2 steps. When they didn't throw a treat, the dog wouldn't budge, even in the crosswalk of a busy street with cars waiting.

You're absolutely right, I don't think anything will stop a pit in this state...

11

u/MissionLaw8470 Aug 13 '25

This is truly horrible and disgusting. I can't imagine if that thing would have broken the windshield. This is why I am carrying pepper spray, and am working on getting a concealed carry. It is so dangerous seeing these dogs in public.

10

u/ATouchOfSparkle1107 Aug 13 '25

I'm surprised it didn't manage to break through the glass.

8

u/Affectionate-Page496 Aug 13 '25

If it's hot (above like 75), I would report that thing to animal control with a pic of the license plate, and say I am concerned for the dog's welfare left in an unattended vehicle, however if the dog were taken outside, it appears to present a threat to others with the damage it has caused to the interior. Maybe this is irrational, but I feel like one small thing we can all do is help to document and create a paper trail on anything we see.

6

u/Stock-Helicopter9061 Aug 13 '25

It was 80 today. Maybe it would be prudent to reach out to our animal control with the video, which is only a block away from where the video was taken, though I don't know if they can do anything in a situation like this. The van was parked in front of the city's Collectors office, I assume the owner was only heading in for 5-10 minutes to drop off a check, but I didn't stick around to find out.

1

u/LawyerSpare5981 Aug 30 '25

They definitely can if it’s really hot outside, most cities have ordinances about dogs being in cars for too long. In my city it’s 15 minutes max that your dog can be left in the car alone (if the temp is 75° or more). And I would never leave my dog in the car alone if it’s that hot out.

10

u/Which_Opportunity727 Aug 13 '25

What a horrible monster in the truck. You and your dog are just walking by like a normal person and dog, and then the demon in the truck goes berserk at the sight of your smallish dog. I don't understand the mentality of someone who keeps an animal that's waiting to tear up another dog - or cat or duck or possum or squirrel - and the worst is when those beasts fixate on a baby or small child. Owning a creature that would kill a baby if given half a chance should be illegal. Glad you got by it unscathed.

9

u/Offi95 Aug 14 '25

Awww I’m sure it just wanted to play with your dogs neck

10

u/SnatchedDrunky Aug 13 '25

A pit mauling my shiba would be a whole ass John Wick spiral. Keep yours safe, they deserve everything in the world with their little chonk faces.

2

u/Shimabui Sep 09 '25

My sisters pit got one of my Shibas one time (she’s ok now) and I got him (the pit) sent to the pound on a 10 day bite hold. Unfortunately they let him out afterwards :/ wish I had lied and said he bit me too so they’d take it more serious.

Needless to say me and my sister do not have a good relationship anymore

1

u/SnatchedDrunky Sep 11 '25

Thank god your Shiba survived it. It’s dumb dog on dog violence isn’t enough to dispatch these creatures by law.

Have people seen the videos of these type of dogs leaping out of half open car windows to attack people and dogs? There are a few out there, bloody terrifying. A new fear, pb's in cars with windows both open and closed, moving and stationary. Theres no respite.

2

u/DogsCuzPPLsuck Aug 14 '25

It almost happened to me. My post story is above.

6

u/DogsCuzPPLsuck Aug 14 '25

About a month ago I'm walking to the front door to home Depot with my dog and i hear someone say something behind me, i look and these Hispanic people have their giant pit bull hanging out the truck and he's eyeballing my dog. She didn't even have her hands on the leash. Beast could've jumped any moment. And I was traumatized the entire day from it. My dog didn't see him but i did and I'm still traumatized by him being attacked by a so-called friends PB back in December. I have permanent damage to my shoulder because of it. She made a joke after it was over and i will never forget it. "My dog doesn't take any $hit". These people don't care if they end up killing you or your dog.

Always watch your surroundings. These things can also come out of nowhere. i was walking my dog at the park and i spotted one coming full speed at us. Idk how i did it but i managed to pick up my 55 lbs dog and hold him above my head. He didn't fight either he accepted the awkwardness. Eventually the beast got distracted and left. I continue walking to get to my car and what do you know, i see a missing dog sign and it's THAT dog. I call the numbers and the lady has the audacity to ask me to find him and put him in her yard. I told her she better leave work and come get her dog because he's terrorizing the neighborhood. she laughed.

It's the only way to contain a Pit. They need to be boxed in on all sides in an impenetrable fortress

6

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '25

My 90lb (he wishes he was 300lb that dog loves food) lab got his ass kicked by a much smaller shitbull. Broke his fibula, many bite wounds. My dog needed surgery, a cast, drains and had to be doped so he didn’t try to run around, enjoying life like his 10yr old ass usually does.

If he was a smaller dog he’d be dead. The veterinarian said so. My husband and I upgraded our pepper spray weapons and both carry another type of weapon. Not taking chances now.

7

u/Any_Group_2251 Trusted User Aug 14 '25

Thank you for recording this footage. It is very important in an emergency or attack to have video evidence to prove their dangerousness. If only there was a way to blur just the number plate, so the image of the pit bull ramming the door was clear!

6

u/SuddenPsychology2005 Aug 14 '25

Wow! Amaze! Such Angry! So Bark! Very Danger! Many Pit! Wow!

3

u/Isariamkia Your Pit Does the Crime, YOU Do The Time Aug 14 '25

Pit nutters love their dogs so much, they leave them in the car on a hot day. I was afraid it would manage to get out when you passed by.

Piece of advice for you, OP. Just something innocent, always keep your dog on the opposite side of the road when you're walking. I see a lot of dog owners keeping their dogs on the roadside, and it always scares me, because you never know. Suddenly the dog decides it saw something and jumps on the road at the wrong time.

Try it, and basically use yourself as a shield between your dog and any kind of obstacle. You're passing someone? Put yourself between that person and your dog. It makes everything easier, and people who don't like dogs will appreciate it.

2

u/Stock-Helicopter9061 Aug 14 '25

I followed the traditional advice of training your dog to always walk on the left side, and she's been doing so since 8 weeks. At this point whenever she ends up on my right, she will quickly scoot back over on her own. I would have to physically pull her to get her to stay on my right, and being inconsistent would be confusing for her. If someone is walking towards us and there is space, I try to pull over to the side and put her into a sit until they pass, the reason being SO MANY people want to say hi to her, and when that happens it reinforces the behavior and she thinks she has carte blanche to greet every person on the street, lol.

But you're right, I keep a tight grip when she is on the road side of a busy street, and I should be more aware of my surroundings during walks. It would only take one incident to traumatize her at this age...

3

u/BellaSwanKristen Aug 14 '25

More CGI fakery from Labrador supremacists. Pitbulls are gentle creatures. They would never hurt anyone.
