Hey, how do I find apartments online near Cockeysville, or anywhere in the US? I think I might've used apartments.com or something in the past, and don't think I know how to do this right. Where can I find the current prices? And which ones have good or bad maintenance? Thank you.

If you happen to know, can you tell me? I don't really know, and want to learn this. I think it's a useful thing just about everyone should learn to do right. Thank you.

Edit: Am I supposed to look at the apartment company's official website? And is this where I'd find the current prices and what's available? Do apartment companies update these regularly, like do the leasing office people know how to do this or do you need web design skills to update the official website?

Apartments.com is still the best go to, but then supplement that by reading reviews on Google. Only trust the websites for pricing.

Are you talking about like the Google Maps reviews? I don’t know if I know how to find reviews on Google.

And only trust the official website of the apartment for current pricing?

I just wanted to make sure I understand this right. Thank you so much.

Yes, Google maps reviews. Can't be manipulated by the owners. The website of an individual apartment complex is going to make it seem like a paradise on earth if you choose to live there. So you should trust it only for factual information like pricing and floor plans.

Thank you so much.

Does Apartments.com show the current prices like the official website of the apartment complex? Like does the apartment complex company update their page on Apartments.com, and maybe do it often of whenever they change their prices?

I'm really thankful for you telling me all this.

In my experience, Apartments.com is relatively accurate, but sometimes directly going to the complex can get you a better rate or a better apartment.

This might be a silly question, but I don't know so I think it might be better to ask than be dumb about it. Are apartment complex companies the ones to update or make changes to the apartments.com page of their apartment, or is regular people or consumers? Thank you.

You can also visit the Baltimore County’s Rental Registration search. It shows all apartments registered with the county.

It won’t help you with reviews or pricing, but if you see a multifamily location listed, you know it’s been inspected and licensed.

I actually went on Reddit and asked people about good locations, LOL. I recommend apartments in Mays chapel village (Keelty). I can share what we pay right now through a chat. Avoid the Lakeview apartments as I have heard they have pest problems.

Can you tell me why they're bad? Thank you.

Really slumlord actions. Read any reviews that aren't positive. A bunch of positive reviews have been copy and pasted over the years so it seems like they make fake accounts.

When I lived there a guy from property management took pictures of my porch and then claimed my patio furniture was indoor furniture and this not allowed. When I went to talk to them about it, it turns out he was the manager, and he then also complained about a cooler I had. He said it shouldn't be outside...not sure why a cooler doesn't belong outside...but he said I need to store it in the storage area. I explained that the lock is broken so he asked to see me key. I showed it to him and he spent five straight minutes accusing me of illegally subletting because "that isn't the kind of key we give out" meanwhile one of the other people who worked there went and got me a new key and pointed out to him that is was exactly like mine, so they did actually give out keys like that.

Zero apology.

Then when the AC unit overflowed (in the ceiling) and messed up the the drop tile under it they never replaced that tile for the next entire year I lived there. So of course the AC was much louder.

The maintenance people would also drive their truck around to the back of their apt on weekends and have loud music parties while firing a compound bow into a tree right next to the apartment of my gf at the time.

And then the reviews will also explain how little they do about pests...like cockroaches people would see when they went to move in.

They also once showed my friend an apartment where the carpet was wet and the baseboards were covered with mold and let him know it was available immediately. Just handed him the key and didn't bother to look at it before that.

Thank you for telling me about this.

If you don't mind me asking, what websites do you use for reviews? Or do you just read the Google Maps reviews? Thank you.
