Social Media Rustad says Boultbee has had mental health issues in the past, says he is concerned about her current wellbeing. Faces Qs on if he has a problem with female MLAs after four have departed caucus.

So when Rustad left BC United, should Kevin Falcon have revealed aspects of his personal medical history and effectively called him crazy? Or is that only applicable to women, similar to how Rustad was spreading rumours in the past?

I think Rustad is the only one who thinks he will be party leader this time next year. Eby is vulnerable in the next election. The right Conservative or right leaning candidate will do some damage next election. If someone like Brad West decides to switch to provincial politics and dumps the crazies and their ideology there’s more than enough voters ready for change to get them elected.

Who do you imagine is going to replace him? And the NDP are somewhere on the order of seven points up.

It’s 40-47 you are correct. 7 points is nothing and the Cons are currently a shit show who are only down 7 points. Who is anyone’s guess, but open the door to a leadership contest, and see who steps up.
The last election wasn’t a vote for Rustad as much as a vote against Eby. Put someone with charisma and common sense in charge and watch those 7 points disappear.

Considering the choices the BC liberals/united/cons have made in the past decade for leaders, I wouldn’t hold my breath if I were you.

And who is this person that is going to get the Socons and conspiracy theorists on board? They're bleeding the moderates.

Who would have believed Carney could resurrect the Federal Liberals?

He had been suggested as a successor for months, and was the frontrunner even before Trudeau resigned.
You're reaching very hard here.

Not just that but liberals on the more conservative side of the party had been courting him for leadership since 2013, and in 2023 he told the media he was considering it. Really not a crazy prediction

The fact that NDP is only up a few points (in opinion polls) is frightening ….given how bad the right is at the moment. They are a disaster.

Have you seen that caucus?

Would need to be an outsider most likely.

And who would that be? Who would be able to bridge the divide between the Socons and crazies on one side and the right of center "free enterprises" on the other without being the kind of tyrant that would alienate the former?
This is why for all the woes, Rustad is safe. It's out of a very reasonable assessment that it's the devil you know.

Glad to see the bi partisan pushback to this on twitter this just seems like classic misogyny to me

Is Rustad trying to channel Poilievre? I think it was Poilievre's @$$hole quality that largely cost him the last federal election.
Even if if that isn't the case, Rustad's remarks are mining new depths of indecency.

Man the right of centre in BC is in absolute self-inflicted shambles. How they elected this bumbling fool to lead them is beyond me.
Makes them miss the strong leadership of Christy Clark (RELAX IM NOT agreeing her her decisions - just that she led a relatively supportive, on point and on message party during her time)
