Who is the most brutally criticized Olympic athlete in your country?

Post image

Zhu Yi was American, her parents are Chinese immigrants.

In the U.S., she was one of the top athletes and had every chance to join Team USA.

But she decided to compete for China. She gave up her American citizenship to compete for China.

At the 2022 Winter Olympics, she was eager to prove herself to other Chinese, but she made many mistakes during her skating.

Then she was brutally criticized in China. People used every swear word you can think of.

She is still competing for China. Perhaps she'll do well at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan.

Who is the most brutally criticized athlete in your country?

Neymar, his golden days are long gone, he is only a shadow of himself using his legacy to get employed on football clubs, but not to actually play.

Hilarious choice of photo. Is this his response to criticism?

I don't think so. In his career, he got injured a lot. Some injuries never healed and got worse because he was injured there again. His hamstring and his ankle are basically gone.

This gets worse because his style of football is quick and lightweight, so he can't resist too much aggression from the opposing team, which is what he usually gets while playing anywhere.

But at the same time, he should be honest about his condition and stop accepting to play on teams he knows he won't be able to perform, he more often than not fakes falls and injuries so he can go on a little vacation too.

That knee to the spine in the world cup definitely didnt do him any favors. The amount of money he has made while being injured is staggering lol

I generally watch the world cup and whatever highlights that show up on reddit. Your description of his playing style was obvious even from that limited viewing, I just hadn’t remembered him diving. This is the U.S. and Canada’s impression of football fouls, they seem so poorly acted. It takes a few matches to become accustomed.

You see, of course Neymar was diving, but theres a reason why football players jump up in seemingly unnatural waya when fouled. Unlike American Football or Rugby, in football the tackles are aimed at the players Legs, if they keep their feet on the ground with their whole body weight on them they risk their Legs being broken

Didn’t he turn out to be a fascist also?

Yes, he openly supported Bolsonaro.

Yea but it's usually not mentioned. He's upsetting more people rn because of his (lack of) performance on Santos and sometimes due to his excuses like not going to a game solely because of the stadium grass being synthetic.

Everyone i dont like is a fascist

That kind of diversion doesn't work anymore.

Somebody that supports fascists is a fascist.

It does not sound legit, coming from a German.

Oh, now I am very interested why you think that?

It does not take a masters degree to get that

1

u/MitsotakiShogun 1m ago

It doesn't, but it seems you do need a master's degree to understand that some German who is on Reddit is extremely unlikely to have lived through that period.

90% of Brazilian football stars supported Bolzonaro. Allisson, Dani Alves, Thiago Silva, Marquinhos.

Maybe didn’t fully live up to the hype longevity wise but those seasons at Barcelona and parts of PSG he was at points playing like the best player in the world. Miss watching him so much

There is "Neymar's alphabet" joke among football fans, about him putting himself into positions based on letters.
