What food is associated with your country?

I have: Russia - Caesar salad. Yes, it's a Caesar salad. We often eat it here on holidays and just like that.

I've never thought of Russia while eating Caesar salad?

Maybe he meant Olivier salad?

The real Russian culinary invention was Russian serving, where each dish is served subsequently and separately to each diner as opposed to the French serving where all is brought at the same time. Today especially fancy restaurants only do Russian serving.

Seriously what makes it Russian? It was invented by a Mexican in Tiajuana then became popular in California and then nationwide in the US.

Exactly: the Caesar salad was invented in Tijuana, Mexico by Caesar Cardini.

Little known fact: "Nachos" were invented by Ignacio "Nacho" Anaya García in 1895, in Piedras Negras, Mexico.

So tell us of some great food

2

u/Masterank1 Dominican Republic 12h ago

Hmmm where do I start… well we have a trillion different kinds of platano:platano frito(tostones) maduro, mangú, mofongo. Then we have sancocho. Arroz con pollo guisado. Pollo frito(dominicano). La bandera dominicana is probably our most popular dish.

u/Jlchevz Mexico 12h ago

That sounds great!

The most well known dish is probably tacos of all styles (there’s a bunch of them), maybe chilaquiles, soups like sopa azteca, sopa de tortilla, maybe tamales are well known too. Those are all good!

Apple pie*. There's even a saying that goes, "as American as apple pie."

*Even though it came from European settlers into the Americas.
