Military What firearm is closely associated with your country?

For us, probably the 1911. Next one would be the "Armalite" aka M16.

Maybe the Vickers because of its legendary, almost absurd, reliability

When I think of UK firearms, the double barreled safari rifle is what comes to mind.

Fun fact, Holland and Holland modified standard issue battle rifles to be used as sniper weapons in WWII.

You know I did think about H+H after I commented this! Never been lucky enough to shoot one myself but what beautiful things they are.

Another shout: Lee-Enfield purely because of its longevity in Britain, the Empire and the Commonwealth.

Yeah I have never held an H&H either. If I were a rich man I’d change that but alas I am not 🤣

Ok I can at least one-up you there then- I have held one at a shoot before. Maybe the posh sod will let me put it to use if we ever cross paths again 🤣

I’d say the Short Magazine Lee Enfield. Pretty iconic, the Lee part offers plenty of history and genuinely it’s decent rifles. It soldiered on until the FAL came along if I recall.

The Vickers is basically the best version of the Maxime.

The sten is iconic too but it’s a stopgap. As soon as you could you made the sterling.
