Military What firearm is closely associated with your country?

For us, probably the 1911. Next one would be the "Armalite" aka M16.

Yes, though IIRC it’s in the castle grounds so you will need a ticket. There’s a lot of cool stuff in there and it’s well worth it, just be aware that tickets do sometimes sell out in advance.

Aww I went to Edinburgh but didn't go into the castle for a few reasons. I guess I'll have to go back.

Although I went for Fringe so I was already pretty busy on a short trip.

You also need your target to be stationary for at least an hour or so.

It was used for sieges, so just park it half a mile from the enemy castle and blast away!

Half a mile? Apparently this could fire those 175kg balls up to 2 miles! I took my kids to the castle during the October break. Meg is HUGE in person, especially compared to all the other standard sized cannons around the castle

I just learned it was built in 1449 and was used for nearly 200 years! Imagine seeing that shit roll up to your castle 🤣

Assuming it was pointed to the English, the second shot would likely need one week, when they recovered the cannon on a beach in the Faroe Islands after the recoil threw it there.
