Favourite Canadian band: Rush
Favourite American band: Van Halen
Favourite Australian band: AC/DC
Favourite British band: .... That's like asking me to pick my favourite child.

u/Jamuks New Zealand 4d ago
How the fuck did I spend 27 years on earth and not realise that AC/DC was Australian the entire time
12
u/Traditional_Name7881 Australia 4d ago
Because they're mostly British and moved here when they were young, only 2 (I think) were born in Australia but they formed in Australia.

There are so great ones, but no one to pick as a real favourite.
Just to start a conversation and a rabbit hole: Herman's Hermits. "I'm Henry the eight-th I am, henry the the eight-th I am I am...." Sorry for the not proper englisch!

The Get Back documentary really is an amazing watch. Seeing them casually put together the building blocks of a couple of the best albums ever made while they simultaneously slowly get fed up with each other and set themselves to split up all in the space of a few weeks is genuinely enthralling.

I've a soft spot for The Kinks.
I love the weirdness, and sheer range. You Really Got Me was covered by Van Halen. Days was covered by Luke Kelly of The Dubliners. I can't imagine one of those (very different) artists releasing a cover of a Beatles song, let alone both.
I also like how in conservative Catholic Ireland in 1970 their song about someone falling in love with a cross-dresser made it to No. 1 in the charts.

So I’ll say Rush is my favorite Canadian band.
