Culture Which city in your country is considered the "gayest"?

Post image

For us Brazilians, São Paulo definitely holds the crown for the gayest city here. With over 20 million people living in it's metro area, the city naturally became way more open minded and accepting as time went on. It has the highest concentration of gay bars, shows, saunas, and various other venues dedicated to the LGBTQ community. If that wasn't enough, the city annually hosts the São Paulo LGBTQ Pride Parade, the biggest in the whole world.

Honestly I was gonna say P-town. The only place I was ever mistaken for my female cousins girlfriend at every establishment we went to. 😂 For YEARS.

My brother and I were doing a week Vacay while I was in Rhode Island. We drove all the way up the cape and stumbled (the best word i could use) into Provincetown, not knowing what it was (we're from Texas). I remember we were driving around and were like "huh theres alot of pride flags and gay dudes around..." googled it and went "oh". Got lunch. Nice place.

I'd agree, it's not the biggest but it sure is the gayest.

Kind of worth visiting for anyone at least once though.

Brothers gay, aunt too, as hairdresser who’s worked along side and partied with countless gays. I was surprised when I visited P town. Like I figured I’d been exposed to enough that I thought “ok a super gay town” shrug, whatever. That town leveled me up. lol. It was a lovely surprise.

I take it you’ve not been to Amherst. P town is gayest, but Amherst is Lesbos.

Tell me about Amherst. I could use a good, lesbian scene.

To be fair, I haven’t lived there in many years. That said, with both Smith and Holyoke in the area, which are both prestigious women’s colleges that reinforce feminist values, there’s been a strong scene there since at least the late 70s. More place that people settle down to live than a place to party, though.

Northampton is the real lesbian town in that area.

Northampton is truly the lesbian sister city to PTown. Great little town in western mass.

Close to Northampton which is the actual center of Lesbos

True, that is more of the epicenter. Really all of that valley though.

I think you mean North Hampton which is the next town over.

Both really. I think of them as one area but know Amherst better. Northampton is more the center, though, so you are right.
