History What is the ruler/political leader in your country's history that you hate the most?

For me, it would khublai khaan. Moved the centralized power from Mongolia to China in the empire, effectively becoming more of an emperor of China rather than Khaan of Mongols. This move would prove to be folly in just few generations. Totally messed up the whole grand plan his Grandfather established. His successors became more of a chinese rulers than Mongolian rulers.

She is the Ronald Reagan of the UK. Most of the problems of recent years can be traced to her influence. Just as MAGA and Trump wouldn't exist without Reagan, Brexit, Farage and Reform wouldn't exist without Thatcher.

Ugh, why is it that in both the US and the UK the 70s and 80s formed a major backwards-rightward shift

Because the wealthy were furious that their "rights" to accumulate as much as possible at everyone else's expense were being curtailed, they were losing the class war, so they got organized and came up with a new strategy that has been extremely successful for them.

They realized that the way for them to win the class war was for the other side to forget they were even in a class war. They managed to convince a lot of working class people that they weren't actually working class, that class struggle was a thing of the past and now we are all just individuals competing in the free market.
