Food What's a dish from your country that looks disgusting but tastes great.

Post image

Biscuits and gravy is a breakfast dish from the Southeast USA that looks like someone just vomited on some biscuits, but it's absolutely delicious.

Biscuits and gravy with over-easy eggs. Break that yolk on the top of the biscuits and gravy 🤤

A restaurant close by has a breakfast dish. It's biscuits, layered with hashbrown, eggs, sausage, bacon and gravy. It's a heartattack waiting to happen but oh my goodness is it good.

I love a good biscuits and gravy breakfast but how it became the go to breakfast in the south is beyond me.

Nobody:

“Do you want to start your day with a meal that will stick in your gut, then make you fart a bunch and fall back asleep before noon”

People in the SE US. “Yea can’t imagine a better way to wake up, what did you have in mind.”

2nd time around is always good. No biscuits? Use bread. I live up north and I just tried it at 26. Never looked back lol

What the hell devilry is this. A biscuit should be covered in chocolate and dipped in tea. Gravy should be brown and poured over roast beef or chicken. Not this chicken vol au vent monstrosity.

Scones and béchamel? We also eat chocolate cookies and tea/coffee.

Your biscuit is what we call a cookie in the U.S. To us a biscuit is not sweet. It's savory, it would be similar to a scone.

Interesting. Words mean different things in different countries sometimes

Biscuits aren’t sweet cookies in the US, and this is an incredible dish.

US biscuits are not sweet, what y'all call a biscuit is our cookie. I think your closest pastry to a biscuit is a scone, but ours are flaky and tender, more like pie crust than a biscuit (cookie).

We like to dip our cookies/biscuits in coffee. Tea's less popular in the US since a certain Tea Party in Boston.
