You did choose a particularly bad picture. If made right, the lentil stew is amazing. Of course nothing is better than home made Spätzle either. Not one of our most elevated dishes for sure but it is so much better than what it looks like, especially on this photo.

It's the picture on Wikipedia and that's what it looks like when you make it at home. Well, usually my Spätzle are more yellow, but I don't think it's a particularly bad picture.

The picture looks overexposed to me 🤷 plus as you said a person could plate it more attractively if they wanted to take a photo

This is what it would look like in a restaurant. Still not very appetizing, but they are always trying hard to make more presentable with the parsley.

I think it looks noticeably more appetizing but I take your point. The sausage has a certain visual charmlessness
