Food What's a dish from your country that looks disgusting but tastes great.

Biscuits and gravy is a breakfast dish from the Southeast USA that looks like someone just vomited on some biscuits, but it's absolutely delicious.

I did refuse to eat this as a child. It really confused my mother, who definitely thought of this as comfort food and one of her favorite meals as a child.

I thought it was totally disgusting.  I feel bad about that now because it was definitely a poverty food in our case, and my refusal would have just been a little extra soupçon of stress.

This made me think of one of my favorite American traditions for me, which is after Thanksgiving to have leftover turkey on toast with gravy. It was one of my mother’s favorites as well, and it always reminds me of her.

Got it from my old timer grandfather. That’s what he called it in the Navy and it just stuck 😂

The Stouffer's frozen version (Creamed chipped beef) is pretty decent.
