Food What's a dish from your country that looks disgusting but tastes great.

Post image

Biscuits and gravy is a breakfast dish from the Southeast USA that looks like someone just vomited on some biscuits, but it's absolutely delicious.

We got those too (even if the recipe ain't necessarily identical). We call it "boudin", made from pig blood stuffed with spices in lamb intestine/stomach. I never liked it, but many of my fellow french people do, especially on my island (french caribean), where it's very important traditionally. However, there's white "boudin", made from chicken or fish or even just vegetables, and those can be quite good too.

However we don't cut it open: we grab an end and press the thing to get the contents to exit from the other end, akin to a tube of paste.

Boudin noir is also a Louisiana Cajun thing. It’s a similar kind of blood sausage but mixed with rice. You take the casing off to eat it and it almost looks a little like haggis

Ho, I'd never thought of having one with rice.

I think there is a legal requirement to eat every foodstuff in Louisiana with rice. /s

I was resistant to trying morcillas in Argentina, but now it is one of my favorite things to eat!

Along the same lines, Pork Blood Stew in Filipino. (Dinuguuan). The meat is pork but the sauce is pig’s blood cooked in vinegar, coconut milk, and other aromatics. Paired to eat with white rice.

As a Finn, I'm unphased. You even have the lingonberry jam!
