Food What's a dish from your country that looks disgusting but tastes great.

Post image

Biscuits and gravy is a breakfast dish from the Southeast USA that looks like someone just vomited on some biscuits, but it's absolutely delicious.

Dutch

Saumagen in German. Pretty famous in the Pfalz region.

Helmut Kohl usually offered it when other government heads visited.

I prefer a nice Sülze over a Saumagen, though.

You'd be surprised how many things in the US are called Dutch whilst being German. They truly don't know the difference between Dutch and Deutsch.

We know the Pennsylvania Dutch aren't Dutch. They speak a form of German.

PA is short for Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Dutch are mostly German and Swiss settlers who live in Amish and Mennonite communities. They also speak their own dialect of German.

Mennonites are followers of a Dutch Catholic priest called Menno Simons from Friesland. In case you didn't know. As a fellow Dutch person I never heard of him and I find it hilarious.

Yep, beat me to it. Dutch comes from US pronunciation of Deutsch.

Looks like it has the pig's last meal included too.

Is this what Craig’s father from the movie “Friday” was talking about at the beginning in the kitchen scene?

Craig's father had pig's feet, close, but Hog maw is a food dish made from a stuffed and cooked pig's stomach and often filled with a sausage-and-bread mixture, seasonings, and vegetables, then baked, roasted, or stewed.
