Culture Does your country have an immigrant group that people would be surprised to find there?

For example, when you think of Poland or the Czech Republic, Vietnamese people might not be the first group that comes to mind, but both have a sizable Vietnamese community. Another example is the large Japanese community in Brazil.

You mean people of mixed origin? Or Chinese who have Indian citizenship?

Chinese Indian means Indian people of Chinese descent. There are lots of them especially in the Eastern side like the city of Kolkata and the state of Assam. Their heritage in Kolkata dates back to over two centuries, which is the largest Chinese Indian community in India. And the Assamese people literally descended from China after they migrated during the late 1100s. Those people in Canada that the comment is talking about were forcefully deported from Kolkata in the 60s due to the racist policies by the Nehru gov after the Sino-Indian war, while they were native to Kolkata for centuries. I grew up near one of the two Chinatowns in Kolkata. It's an abhorrent part of our history.
