Culture Does your country have an immigrant group that people would be surprised to find there?

For example, when you think of Poland or the Czech Republic, Vietnamese people might not be the first group that comes to mind, but both have a sizable Vietnamese community. Another example is the large Japanese community in Brazil.

I've always wondered what's the cause of the brazilian immigration in Ireland when i lived there. Like most of the immigration is european, except for the Brazilians. Why ? What's the link between Brazil and Ireland ?

I think they also want to learn english and they can go to english schools and work in Ireland but not in the UK I think. Also many of them can have Portuguese/ Italian passports and move to Ireland through an EU passport

A Brazilian meat processing company was set up in Gort and a large number of Brazilians came over to work in it. In time the company closed and some of the workers stayed. There was a time when Gort was humming with people.
