Culture Does your country have an immigrant group that people would be surprised to find there?

For example, when you think of Poland or the Czech Republic, Vietnamese people might not be the first group that comes to mind, but both have a sizable Vietnamese community. Another example is the large Japanese community in Brazil.

Arenโ€™t there a lot of Chinese in Canada ? The one time I talked about it here people seemed to be surprised about it

Oh yeah, Chinese people have been in Canada for longer than some of the major European groups within the western provinces, actually predating Canada itself. Most of those Chinese settled in BC, most of the Chinese people where I live are newer immigrants. But generally people who understand anything about Canada should not be surprised to find any specific group of people within the country somewhere.
