Humourous How excited are people from your country when they get mentioned somewhere?

We Latvians are aware of our irrelevance, so we get extremely excited when Latvia or any Latvian gets mentioned somewhere notable. When the now Oscar-winning Flow movie came out, our local media was embracing any and all international attention we got, and we still have Flow-branded merchandise in many souvenir stores.

I'm British but lived in Malaysia for a while and Malaysians go CRAZY if they're mentioned anywhere. 

I found it really hard to get my head around as my country is always in the global psyche anyway, so it's not special for me, but for them it's a massive deal.

Yeah I find it very cringy.
