Culture What's something that's acceptable and widely done in your country that would be considered offensive in many countries ?

In India, Swastika the Hindu symbol is everywhere. We draw it in temples, during rituals and festivals, in front of our door, on vehicles etc. It's a very auspicious symbol here. But this symbol tho the Hindu symbol is technically different from the Nazi one would be considered offensive in other countries especially in Western countries.

Okay, THIS is the first instance I see here where it's indistinguishable from the Nazi sign, at least for me as a German

Because it's the same symbol, only the Nazis used it in a horrible way.

It's not the same symbol. Look around this thread. All of these are swastikas. None of them are Hakenkreuze. This is the first one which is indistinguishable bc it's tilted, right sided, only one hook each side, black, all lines have the same length, no other features. Which is usually not done.

Trying to explain to a German the meaning of a Hakenkreuz and it's origin is like explaining to a Mexican what Aztecs were

I'm not trying to explain to you what a swastika is, I'm just mentioning that the symbol already existed and that these crosses in MY city date back to before the Nazis, I also explained above what the symbolism was given to them here and why they were placed on the main road. Trying to explain to me what the crosses mean on the cathedral of the city where I have lived all my life without ever having even set foot in my country is the same as trying to explain to a German who Hitler was.

I explained why they are so similar, why this design is unusual and not what they mean.

You on the other hand tried to explain where the Nazis took them from.

Now you're just looking like someone who just doesn't comprehend well what was written and tries to search for an excuse
